So im channel surfing and i come upon what looks like a draft. Turns out the new AAFL has their first draft today. I like the idea of spring football, but it never succeeds. here is the odd bit that this league has going for it: So do they have a chance? I personally like the idea of a Team Louisiana, but spring football never works.
The louisiana players are assigned to the Arkansas team. Marcus Randall is on the roster and will compete with Clint stoener for the starting QB job.
If you throw around enough names of washed up players like Chris Leak or Jason White, etc... people will generate enough pride in their university to go out to the games. The thing they are doing that could make me think this will work is they are playing it as kinda an extension of the college game or college life. They aren't trying to be "the next NFL." If they get the right alums, it could work. There won't be many good LSU guys. We all get drafted in the 1st round and play in the big show.
I think this one has a chance. Especially in the chosen markets. Expansion would be easy if they get minimal audiences. Imagine if they did have a Louisiana team, You could fill the roster with guys that were damn good football players for us and all have recognizable names.
Let's start to reel off some guys for the Louisiana team: QB: Shawn King/Rohan Davey/Tim Rattay RB: Justin Vincent FB: WR: Josh Reed (I hear he is about to get cut from Buffalo) TE: OL: OL: OL: OL: OL: etc...
Added a few off the top of my head. QB: Shawn King/Rohan Davey/Tim Rattay, Marcus Randall RB: Justin Vincent, Rondell Mealey, Shyrone Carey FB: WR: Josh Reed, Jerel Myers, Reggie Robinson, TE: OL: Rodney Reed OL: Rob Sale OL: Louis Williams OL: OL: DE Kendrick Allen DT Howard Green DT DE OLB Jeremy Lawrence ILB Trev Faulk, Lionel Turner OLB Cameron Vaughn DB Jesse Daniels DB Fred Booker DB DB
Justin VIncent was added to the active Steelers roster before the playoffs. Maybe down the line he will take a shot at this league but he still has a slim chance at NFL playing time while making NFL $$$.
You're missing the bigger question here: Will the Voodoo have a quarterback this season?
