Iz I hate to disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're limited to 25 schoolies a year, period. No carryovers.
Izzy is right. You can only sign a max of 25 per year over four years so if we only sign 23 and don't use any on transfers we're able to sign 27 next year. Gone are the crazy wild wild west days of SEC schools signing 34 kids in a cycle. It's much tighter now.
They didn't have a guaranteed spot for Burns. I think had he waited we'd have taken him ultimately. Burns rightfully was upset and went UGA. We reset our board and here we are. Kid was so excited to come back home during his announcement.
That’s such a shame. Would have loved to have him. I still thought we had some other guys we could have cut loose first, but it is what it is at this point.
"FBS schools can only have 85 players on scholarship at any one time and can generally give up to 25 scholarships a year."
You can count guys back to the previous class, but only if they are early enrollees. Most of the loopholes were closed in 2017, but that one still remains as a way to sign more than 25. https://247sports.com/Article/Colle...Explaining-the-tweaked-25-man-rule-112220845/
