Yes it is. If you'd been paying attention, you'd know that talent is not the issue here. Les has recruited even better than Nick did. There is no lack of talent. The issue is having to dismiss our only experienced quarterback and the failure of our new DC's to perform effectively. Downhill? Well, Bama should know about downhill well enough. I'd wait until you beat us 5 times straight and win 2 BSC crystal footballs before I'd crow too loudly about LSU's demise.
It's obvious you don't have a clue. LSU has had top-10 classes the last 3 yrs under Miles and are about to have probably the best class in LSU history. Talent is not the reason this year has been horrible. It's nice to see Saban doing so well with Shula's players tho!
I'm not crowing about LSU's demise. I've always liked you guys and our rivalry. I've pulled for you in every game this year except one, of course. You're right to a great extent - other than the qb position, LSU doesn't seem to have a lack of talent. That leaves coaching. I don't think Miles is a bad coach at all, but something went wrong this year. I was just asking a question about if any of you thought Miles hadn't lived up to expectations, hadn't done as well after Saban's players graduated, or if there was another explanation for what went wrong this year. Instead of assuming everything is a flame, try assuming it was a legit attempt to have a reasonable discussion about football until proven otherwise. If you look at all my other posts, you'll see that not only have I never flamed, I've even jumped on a couple of Bama posters who did.
OK, so what did happen this year? If it's not talent, and you make a good case for that not being what's wrong, then what is it? Miles is a good coach. Does he have the wrong talent for LSU's schemes, is there turmoil among the players, assistants not doing their job, what? Something went wrong and I'm just asking what you think it is.
Actually, I've never really thought that was the case either until recently. I'm still not sure it's true, but it does bear considering. Given that Les seems to be a great recruiter and you've had several strong classes with him, I'm inclined to believe it isn't the answer. I'm just not sure what the problem is though.
Complacency seems to be an issue... maybe we're just expecting oppenants to roll over now because we're LSU, a 40-6 record at midway through this season can do it to the best teams.
I do not see were your questions are out of line. I was, for the first time in five years, getting upset with the way coach Miles was handling the game Friday. There is somthing going wrong down in Tiger town and living in Ohio I am not up to date on what is being ask or said on sports radio in Baton Rouge, but being a Tiger fan as I have for all my 50 years I am sure true Tiger fans are aksing the same questions as you. I see were Saban came in and is winning with players from the old coaching staff and maybe it is coaching? I love LSU football and I have allways been a Miles supporter and I trust that he will fix the problems in the off season. You have to remeber the last time LSU won a :crystal: before Saban and Miles was the year I was born (1958).....to win :crystal::crystal: in five years is big. Anyway this is the most I have said on here at one time and I stand by you and your questions......:miles:
No, it leaves coaching, schedule, experience, circumstances, player departures, injuries, and pure dumb luck. Well, your timing sucks, amigo. In the off season, we'll discuss it 'til we're blue in the face. Today it's rubbing salt on a wound.
Well, I realize my timing probably was off, but it wasn't my intention to rub salt in the wound. If you took it that way, then I apologize.
