First a disclaimer: I don't have intimate details on JJ's injury or status, and obviously we have to take Miles's statements with a grain of salt. But I wanted to put some food for thought out there. I had the distinct impression watching the offensive playcalling that the coaches were trying to make Lee carry the game on his shoulders and lead the team to victory, hence the pass-heavy plays. They didn't seem to be concerned with winning the game, since it was evident from the few running plays with KW that points could be generated on the ground. In retrospect they clearly forced him to try to do too much. So the question is why do this? Could it be that Jefferson's injury is worse than everyone is letting on and that he will be doubtful for the Ole Miss game? I know in that case I want to get Lee as active in the offense as possible. It just so happened that he was very ineffective in the "warm-up" game. Your thoughts?
If that's the case I think it helped us learn that we better practice running the ball a lot this week.
i agree, but i dont think it has to mean that jj's injury is worse than suspected. he could easily retweak it or get a concussion with all those sacks he takes.
When I say worse than suspected, I mean that it's bad enough that it's highly unlikely he'll start and/or play most of the game, regardless of whether it's the injury itself or the fear of retweaking his ankle by the coaching staff. Watching this game gave me a sinking feeling that Lee will see a lot of significant PT against Ole Miss.
I have no inside info at all and just assumed JJ would be back for Ole Miss. So it never occurred to me that Lee might start this Sat. Depressing if JJ is really hurt that badly.
alot of people on the radio including Moscona seem to think that our receivers refuse to play all out for Jarrett Lee.
I think that JJ will be back for the Ole Miss game. The problem with the playcalling in the Tech game is it was GC making the calls. He was being given a chance to show he could shine. A mistake you probably won't see for the rest of the season. I think that Miles will take majority control over the offense from here on out, and you will see plays that will utilize the talent that we have. Like it or not, the use of the run game should become more prevelent and used to open up the pass game more. We have the talent at RB and receivers to open up a short game attack with ease. Using plays that will eat up the clock and 4-5 yrd gains. This is all of course just my opinion. Take it for what it is worth. Miles will get us to a 10-2 season with a bowl W to finish it off.:geaux: :LSU231:
