As the on field leader Lee is a definite major problem with his ups and downs. Still its far more than Lee. The coaching has been very subpar thus far. The play calling on both O and D are predictable. With a lack of adjustments, mainly on D. HAving the wrong personel in there as well. The D doesnt wrap up at all. The receivers are starting to drop a lot of passes. It starts with the coaches IMO, they are the leaders of the team. There is no discipline at all this year at LSU. I just hope this isnt a trend that will stay. Miles has a tough job ahead of him. We will see just how good a coach he is.
I don't disagree that throwing interceptions doesn't affect them a little. But I thinks it's like complaining about a broken toilet on the Titanic. This defense has big problems everywhere enough for the defense to focus on. Lee is the last thing they need to be thinking about. After watching this defense congratulate itself too many times over basic things like tackling even doing so while comfortably getting their asses handed to them, I'm convinced we have some very talented recruits turned players who haven't been taught the LSU way. If there's no senior leadership then the coaches need to take control and kick these guys heads on straight. Acting like the "U" is one thing. Playing like the "U" did back in the day is another and these cats haven't earned the right to behave like they're acting. This team lacks the character I've grown to love over the past 8 years.
IMO the DL has been the biggest disappointment thus far. With all the hype, they havent played well at all. Im sure some of it is schemes but still, they just not getting the job done.
One of the best posts that I have seen, I am a firm believer that you play as a team, and you win and lose as a team. I don't think it is right to always be blaming one player. :helmet: will be back, and I will still be there supporting them, just like I am now. I don't like losing either, but I think there are many :helmet: fans that are just used to winning and being on the top. I think the team just needs to know that their fans are behind them all the way, not just when they are winning.
We're taking on Florida's 07 season. They win the 06 championship. They have a lot of young players on D and have some key injuries to boot. They play terrible defensively for most of the season. They end up losing 4 games (including the bowl game). Even at season's end, their defense looked really bad against Michigan.
And UF had a Heisman-winning QB... And just to rant: Did their DC get fired? Were people saying that Zook's recruits had left? Were people saying that they were now seeing the real Meyer?
However, FLA in 07 did not look as bad in their losses as we have in 08. I, too, want to stay positive and reflect on all of the senior leadership and talent we lost as a source of our problems this year, but the way we lost to FLA and UGA was fairly discouraging. If these games had been battles like UT-TTU last night, then I don't think the tone on some of the threads would be as negative. I agree, however, that we need to keep the big picture in mind and realize what we accomplished in 03, 07, and what lies ahead. Hopefully, the experiences this year will help in the long run.
