Our offense is a concern and all of you that balk at any hint of criticism need to step back into reality. I am very disappointed we didn't see Lee a bit more and feel confused why we haven't seen Ford much. The level of competition we've faced so far is far from the teeth of our schedule. There were a lot of positives to take from this game, no doubt, but any who feel ok with our offense are rationalizing and making excuses. There were improvements this week, but I'm still concerned at how slowly our offense is improving relative to the level of competition we are facing.
Can't help but notice the use of the word "you" instead of the word "we" when describing LSU here. Usually it is fans of other teams that use the word "you" to describe a team.
A solid win now MSU is lowly and what happened to Dan Mullun ? thought he was the man after a Tiger win I still read what we should have done loved the game and the win Geaux Tigers
A few thoughts then I have to hit the road. I am happy with the win tho some things on o concern me, I srr improvement each week. More on that when I get back to a pc. Patrick peterson is amazing. Very amazing. The d as a whole had me giddy all night. Ggh, the ignore feature is your friend. I have gotten reacquainted with it recently! Someone get siu a sock.
I saw a few good things last night. We actually ran it against the grain a couple of times. If we keep doing that, defenses won't be able to predict the direction of our play on first move anymore. We looked like we ran a counter trey a couple of times, and on the run play Jefferson scored on it was more of a draw motion instead of our typical QB runs where he goes left and everyone pulls left, he goes right and everyone pulls right. I still haven't seen a pass out of the I formation. We've got to do that. Maybe we are saving it.. I sure hope so. Overall I would give the playcalling a C last night instead of the Ds and Fs I'm used to giving. The problems... We still can't pick up a blitz. Blue almost got Jordan killed on one play. We don't do that bad man vs man on the line, but the line seems to be missing that line general who tells everyone who to block. The receivers and tight ends have GOT TO BLOCK. When we ran those QB sweeps or the end around to Shep, it seemed no one on the edge wanted to block. A lot of times they just stood their ground and didn't engage their man. They need to be aggressive, attack and lock down their man instead of waiting for the defender to come to them. This stuff is all coaching, which is the part that is annoying. We have to get it fixed. If Jefferson has time to stand in the pocket, he can make accurate, crisp throws. If Shep gets some blocks, he can make big plays on the edge.
A good win, but not a great one. I will sure take it. IMHO, the best play of the night came late, on a roll out to left. JJ had no one open, no time and ate it for either loss or short gain...I was a bit inebrated..inebrated..inhe....heck drunk by then. Beats the heck out of the previous, throw it up for grabs scenario. Yeah, our offensive stats are still anemic and the record for five field goals is kinda like getting a kiss from your twin......brother..but at least JJ did not lose if for us. Still sayin' 7-4. Oh yeah, really disappointed did not see that kid from Ohio that tore up the Army high school game. He is too good to ride the plank.
When Lee stepped in, they fumbled. Lee didn't fumble the ball. Blue did. Lee played crisp for as long as Miles let him in the game. Plays he ran and handoffs were sharp. True, he didn't throw the ball, but for what he did, he did well.
