Dude, you and I are watching the same game and see eye to eye on what is the problem. Yes, our D needs to improve, yes I hate 2 D-coord's, but that is overcomeable if we focus on running the ball, and don't get too cute with young QBs who are apt to making huge mistakes, and keep what momentum we have from the D going by running a smart offense. Before the season began, the QBs were supposed to just be able to hand the ball off, and not make mistakes. Instead, CGC is asking them to do too much. As a consequence, the D is on the field more and is not able to step it up every series.
and?!!? we were losing the entire game. teams in that situation usually do attempt more passes (and usually using their QB) than the other team does.
No, we have to throw or the opponent will just put 8 or 9 men in the box and stop Scott, like Florida did. Lee just needs to listen to his coaches and learn to throw the ball away instead of forcing it into coverage.
Red- do you think Miles will pull the plug on DC by committee immediately after the season? From an outsiders view point Lee is just making freshman mistakes and that is something you just have to live through until the light begins to come on in his mind's eye. But with the defense. There definitely needs to be change here. Y'all know more than I do regarding y'alls defense but it appears there's a lot of confusion at times as to what the secondary is suppose to do. It also looks like the defense at times suffers from what our offense has suffered through and that's lapses of intensity during games. I've never been an advocate of "co-" anything when it comes to coaching. You need ONE leader and players usually have a hard time following two "leaders".
Who knows? Les does not wield the quick ax that Nick does. But he must not make the mistake that Charlie Mac and Gerry Dinardo did--being too loyal to assistants who aren't getting the job done. It doesn't matter much to me if there is a DC or co-DC's, but they have to be held to high standards . . . and if they ain't getting it done, they need to find some greener pastures. In 115 years of LSU fotball, LSU has NEVER given up two 50-point losses in the same season.
Regarding Lee. I still think he's going to be a good one. I like his quick release and you can tell he has that "big play" element about him.
Too soon to say. If Perrilloux was QB, we would be in a lot better shape and Lee would have had time to mature. But a season like this can be a confidence killer. We have a 5-star quarterback coming on board and we may be playing another green quarterback next year.
