Right now there are three elite football teams in the SEC: Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. The common thread they share is having a mature, seasoned quarterback who plays smart and minimizes mistakes. Jarett Lee is going to be a good QB for LSU, but he's taking his lumps right now. LSU can't beat the elites with a field general who is wet behind the ears. In addition, LSU's defensive backs are going through growing pains, too. So much inexperience at so many skill positions equals losses to the best teams in the best conference in America. The Tigers will finish 9-3 or 8-4 and play in a decent bowl game. The question is will the same babies who are making all the mistakes this year be grown up enough by August 2009 for LSU to make another championship run? :helmet:
I wouldn't call Georgia elite, in fact they looked quite average today despite the fact that LSU has no defense or QB. If LSU had any kind of average QB Georgia would have another loss. Bama and Florida I agree with. Wasn't impressed much with Georgia, Tigers made them appear much much better than they are.
Good teams do that. Georgia is a good team, lets not be ridiculous. Georgia confused Lee...they get the credit.
Lee was absolutely confused by a good team. Were they not pre-season #1 for a reason? I still maintain the majority of our problems lay at the feet of the Linebackers and Safeties. They have consistently played poorly. Schemes have made no difference for them. I am actually encouraged by the play of our CBs. Especially Peterson. He has gotten up to speed quickly.
Lee confused Lee, let's not get ridiculous and think for a minute that Lee has a clue what he is doing no matter what team the Tigers play. He is a redshirt and looks every bit the part. The georgia D gave up 500 yards to a team with a dazed and confused QB. LSU's DB's still couldn't cover their azz with a blanket and receivers were running down the field uncovered often as usual. LSU was not a strong test for the dogs but it took two totally bone head pick six's for them to win. LSU is overrated and so is georgia.
I don't agree. The defense gave us numerous opportunities but we couldn't take advantage offensively. Our offense looked good every time we got down by 14 or 21 points but when it could have turned the game in our favor, they couldn't get it done.
I think some are giving georgia too much credit for pitifully poor play by LSU. However I agree Ptereson is going t be special. I hope Loston comes ready to play.
LSU is still an elite team...they can play with the best of them. Take the turnover points away and we win. There are some problems with the scheme on defense also. We shouldn't be letting so many big plays get around us. I'm not sure if it is personnel or players out of position or the sets not working. Lee shouldn't be staring down receivers and making some of the throws he does at this point in the season. The guy has tons of talent but something isn't clicking inside. I'm beginning to wonder if he will ever get it. I've never criticized a player before but it is just so frustrating to see such talent sink into schizophrenia. He looks phenomenal one minute and a third string bench the next.
