I don't want to bash Coach Saban in any kind of way. We all know he did a great job while he was here at LSU. But it seem's like to me tho, that when he took the Alabama job, he thought that he could come into Louisiana and get anybody he he wanted. This is just my opinion tho. I think Coach Miles is doing a great job in recruiting going head to head with Coach Saban. Coach Saban is keeping the Alabama top recruits home and Coach Miles is doing the same to the Louisiana recruits. Does anybody else has any other opinion? :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
He's not going to come here and steal all our eggs and I think he knows that. I think what he wants to do is to come in and walk off with one or maybe two high-profile prospects each year. This year it could be Randle.
If he was coaching at Illinois, he'd be trying to grab the best players from Ohio. If he was in Oklahoma, he'd be sniping Texas. Etc. Yes, he's got some contacts in LA. But I think geography has a big part in this as well. Generally, I think the players are more apt to be interested in a school where family can travel to see them play. LSU spends a lot of time recruiting the very best out of state players. It's what great coaches for elite football teams do. Say what you want, Bama is an elite program, returning to competitive form.
Saban knows it is hard to come to Louisiana and get our recruits, he used to coach here in Louisiana. He saw all the kids that grew up purple-and-gold, like Chris Faulk. All coaches know it is hard to go to a state that has a strong football program and get the recruits they want. But they all still know they have to try. For example, look at the two commits we have from Georgia--Minter and Calhoun. Minter grew up a big Georgia Tech fan and Calhoun grew up a big Georgia fan.
