Are there any teams that do not consistently run out of the "I"? That's what the "I" formation is designed to do.
Yes. But teams that only run the "I" - or used to, probably no longer in vogue - used to pass from the "I" as well. Play-action passes and all that. Man, you absolutely will not pass up a comment that might be considered a criticism. You are relentless!:thumb:
We improved on Offense execution. that was clearly visible. No INT's and better first half execution, drive, etc.. Lower penalties, not by alot but lower. Injuries, we're beat up pretty good from the grueling SEC schedule, especially on Defense in the trenches but our O line has taken a beating too. Our guys need an off week again. I can see the difference in play, but still we are deep, but EACH guy that is replaced, it shows.. a little. let's just hope we are really as deep as everyone says we are. Some starters out there are playing with nagging injuries. Yes we need to somehow "man up" on defense and over come the injuries for one more game then heal up a little in time for the SEC CG and man up again and win that THEN heal up ( longer rest ) and play for the NC with all guns blazing.... :crystal: Best scenario right there and you just got to hope it goes that way. I know it's easy to say but believe me I in no way think its easy.
i beleive it boils down to being #1 and the stigma it carries. teams are executing very well against LSU (better than they do against others). mostly, i refer to qbs making good throws against good coverage and wrs making catches---OM and Bama are good examples. the achilles heel of the d has been passes to rbs and tes. this has been going on for a while so id think adjustments have been made just not effective. id think that with a top dline, LSU could afford to use a cb instead of s in nickle/dime. this problem is certainly preferable to a run-porous dline or getting beat on deep routes, so its not a bad problem to have.
I'm with you. My sense as well is that LSU LBs this season are, as a rule, not great matching up with any receiver except a slow TE. But they have been awesome at plugging up the line and open field tackling. And with a secondary like ours, it's a weakness we can afford, as you say. :geaux:
Felix Jones is hurt and may not play Friday...w/o Felix, McFadden was held to 88 yards on 28 carries and 4 receptions for 50 yards along with 1 TD. This against Mississippi St. When D Mac lines up in the Wildcat w/o Felix in the backfield...you could probably bet he will run it 95% of the time and just bring the house. We may get beat once with his arm, but I think the percentages are good that he wont throw for 300 yards and 4 TDs. Oh yeah, their QB is Casey Dick.
