Also have to remember our tackles were dropping like flies early in the game as well. At first it seemed the switch to 3 down linemen was as much out of necessity as scheme. But the scheme was so effective that they kept it until late in the game when the four down came back. Even then we still kept 5 DBs out there with either Collins or Eugene thrown in the mix. Speaking of Collins, it sure does look like to me that Collins and Mills are playing better football than Simon, although I LOVE that big hit Simon put on the guy to end the game when they were trying to get their hook and ladder together. But these young guys are really imposing there will on all levels. Collins and Mills in the secondary; the young lions at linebacker; Alexander and Turner on the right side of the O-line; JEREMY HILL! These young guys are taking what they want. Sorry for the derail.
I dont see that mills and collin are playing better than simon....simon plays more press coverage and on an island.....the other two usually are playing with help over the top, that tells me all i need to know there.
I think they are playing very well for freshmen. Simon hasn't wowed me this year, but then again, we haven't really gotten hurt much on passing plays.
