:eek:ldskule:First, I wanna say I am very much pro Lee but, maybe someone can answer this. I noticed a number of his passes were thrown high Saturday. Is this usually a problem with mechanics, happens when being rushed to throw, a case of mindset (trying too hard to show he still deserves the starting role) or something else? Just wonderin'. Thx:tigerhead

I noticed that too. I believe it has to do with the anxiety of throwing a pick. Maybe something lingering from the 08 season.

Or maybe it just seems that way and that's just the way he throws. I dunno.

He has poor mechanics as has been discussed to the point of exhaustion. It is one of two things. He is either un-coachable or he has not been afforded the proper coaching.

Another pro-Lee guy (he does scare me at times though) but a few things that he HAS to work on and make immediate improvement in...

    1. Throwing off his back foot - This tendency has been there since his freshman year. You gotta step into your throws Jarrett!
    2. Locking onto his primary target and not going through his reads - As I've already stated, this caused him a lot of grief (and us as well) in '08 and I still see it. It is as if he breaks the huddle and is hell bent on throwing to his primary target no matter what.
    3. Mental side - He reverts back to bad habits when under pressure, relying solely on his arm strength to get the ball there...thus not stepping into this throw and throwing it off his back foot which then has a tendency to sail on him....OR prematurely throwing it away in lieu of checking down through his progressions.

He has made a TON of improvement since '08, but the fact that they would not let him run a 2 minute drill against freakin UK at the end of the first half Saturday (perfect opportunity to practice it at game speed) does call for some bit of uncertainty about the coaches confidence.

You play to win the game (Thanks Herm Edwards)...not avoid losing it.

Regardless...I am behind him...he is our starting QB and I hope JJ's crap (aka reinstatement) doesn't bother him.

Maybe he didn't feel as protected in the pocket without T-Bob there ... maybe just a bad day. He admits and knows he throws off his back foot; said his dad nags him about it. Could the locking on to intended receiver be a peripheral vision issue?

    (I'm Pro Lee as well)

That's what I meant by still deserving the starting role, without mentioning any names.

Lean backwards and throw a football... See what happens to its flight.

Someone told me it was a pretty windy day in Tiger Stadium. Not sure if this is true or not......It could explain the lack of consistant passes.

I heard it was pretty windy, that couldn't have helped.
