This is my hope too! I hope that the best QB wins an unbiased open competition.

I just wish GC could make the minicamp fit into his busy schedule, and maybe wrap his genius mind it. I doubt it though (to do so would mean he made a mistake, which geniuses don't do.)

I think the pro-style offense rarely succeeds in college because you really need pro-type players to run it properly and especially you need pro-type, all day practices. College players only have a couple of hours each day to practice and watch film. Complex pro-style passing attacks require players that not only have the physical talent and mental acuity, but also the complete understanding of a complex offense with many read options, AND the time for the repetitive practicing that it takes to make this second-nature. Above all it takes a pro-style quarterback and we don't have a single one on the team right now.

Most college teams run the spread ( and before it, the Power-I, The Wishbone, and the old Single-wing) because they just don't have the athletes to run a pro-style offense.

I was under the impression when he was recruited Garrett was a pro-style QB.

Not every drop-back quarterback is capable of running the pro-set with its complex read options and a hundred receiver patterns.

True but he was recruited to be a pro-style QB... guess we'll find out when his time comes. I'm excited just because of size, being 6-4 220+ pounds will help him.

I just hope someone actually steps up and WINS the starting job this year. The last two have been decided by default.

It's pretty rare...but I vehemently disagree with you here.

People keep on saying "JJ can't run the option". I don't remember JJ being labeled an dual threat coming out of high school. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think he was a pro style. Why does he have to run the option? Crowton?? Screw Crowton and get an OC whose proven track record doesn't clearly show that he digresses year after year after starting off like a house afire.

He stepped up in the pocket and played better in the Cap 1 than he has all season. I counted no less than 5 drops...most by TT. Catch those damn balls, and JJ's Cap One MVP...because LSU wins. Have the defense get off the field and give the offense a chance to play, different outcome. Have the OL provide protection, different season.

I agree JJ may not have lived up to what we as fans expected...but our expectations were quite unrealistic. Me included. I started paying specific attention about mid season to see if he was at least progressing, and in fact, I see progression. Something I cannot say about the OL or the offensive play calling.

Obvious that you turned the channel after the first two drives on that pig pen of a field...

How can we recruit QBs with receivers dropping balls all over the place??
