    I agree :thumb:

LSU's offensive inconsistencies doomed it in a 19-17 Capital One Bowl loss to Penn State. There's plenty of talent on the roster, however, and a more experienced Jordan Jefferson at quarterback should enable the Tigers to be better in 2010.

He should, given the experience from playing his freshman and sophmore years. As long as the offensive line improves, and JJ can continue to move out of the pocket. His receivers will have to step up and improve with him:tigereye:

He has plenty of experience. Still can not make a quick decision, and definitely can not run the option. We can only hope that Garrett is the real deal, or it will be a long season.

Nobody's saying JJ's perfect, but given Miles' penchant for not playing younger players, even just to test the waters, he's what we've got.

A bad QB can still do a decent job with a great OL and healthy, sound running backs. I hope that the line will improve so we can see the Ridley and RS shine, JJ get some time to throw, the play action to work, and hopefully less shotgun:geaux:

He could always twist an ankle. You never know.

We need a better QB than JJ, he has had plenty of starts over the last two years. He has not made any great strides forward. We need another QB.

I watched most all of your games this year. My "casual observer" comment would be I also expected him to show significant progress game by game this year. I don't think that's what I saw, which would make me somewhat concerned that he will make great strides next year.

I disagree, i saw progress. I think he progressed well considering the offensive line struggled at best. What we witnessed was a green quarterback having the entire offensive load put on his shoulders, which is really unfair. I think he did about as well as he could considering we had ZERO running game.

He can get a ton better there is no doubt. He needs to work on his mechanics, and his pocket presence. His decisions need to be made alot faster, and get the ball out quicker. That being said i think we have a quarterback that will be able to do enough to win us a championship if our O line can protect him and we can get some sort of running game going to take the pressure off of him, and not rely on Jefferson alone to win us football games.

well i agree. however, i've tried to defend miles through everything. that being said his biggest most glaring indefensible move is not firing studwara and to a slightly lesser extent crowton.

i can almost live with crowton (almost) if stud was gone along withthe other changes that have already happened.

however, it won't matter how much better JJ is, if the line performs as it has over the last two (some may say 3) years. the running game will falter and crowton will rely on a pass happy offense that doesn't drain clock and doesn't move the chains and most importantly doesn't score. i'd even trade a little time of possession for some points. (one of my friends calls it the quick strike/no strike offense. :hihi:)

i'm waving the opinion flag here, but keeping stud and GC, will be horrific for Les. i think the defense gets better next year and so will JJ to some extent but i dont care if the jets' defense is on the field, they're gonna get gassed when they're offense can't put a drive together.

i don't care how good your skill positions are, a good OL can make up for almost anything and a bad one can erase any advantage.

look at bama (damn, did i just say that?) g-mac is serviceable because his line (who was supposed to be a weakeness with experience before the season started) gashes teams in the run game (refer to the sec cg) and allows him time to find and throw to receivers.

offensive balance wins games, it's something Les always touts but his teams lately hardly ever show. so if GC is the reason we look different than you intend Les, then isn't it time to show him the door??

of course there could be some behind the scenes stuff we don't know about. like let's say Les wants to fire crowton and the powers that be say "no it's too expensive right now" maybe they could bring someone in to basically call the plays in 2010 and reduce GC to a gameplanning QB coach. just saying. i'd feel better about that. wonder if BG will be in the booth in atlanta?? probably shouldn't get my hopes up.

A better OLine will help JJ make better decisions (mostly because he won't be constantly running for his life in a system that refuses to allow him to roll out). The option has been just horrendous...I've seen jv teams that run it better. I would also like to see Crowton realize that you can throw a pass from the I formation, maybe even a play action pass...then again, the few attempts at it this season looked as awkward as the option did. JJ's high school videos show him doing both much better than recently, so that leads me to believe it is faulty coaching. Garrett may or may not be the real deal, I know next to nothing about him (really wouldn't mind seeing RS get a shot at it too). I do know that I would be very wary of starting yet another young QB who isn't ready for this level of play, especially with the aforementioned coaching issues, and furthermore I doubt that anyone will be able to beat JJ for the starting spot.

    Have to agree

Haven't really had a chance to post until now. I've watched enough heartbreaking losses by PSU to know that the typical "good game" post game comment will not ameliorate what LSU fans must be feeling after such a loss. I'm sure there is much left to be desired and improved upon.

With that said, what I saw Friday was a much maligned LSU offense fight tooth and claw under adverse conditions to take the lead in the fourth quarter against what most would recognize as a top rated defense. I think that bodes well for the future of your program.

Good luck next season. You have proven to be great fans and know that you have one more LSU fan rooting for you from up north!
