I don't think you have to worry about being an 8 or 9 seed at this point. Looking like 11 or 12 if they get in.
To be fair, many b-ball teams play shitty for a half, even really good teams. We were on the good end of two halves, that's what matters. It's one thing for people to criticize and express frustrations, but it's another when we hit a stage of a game when the team is not playing well to immediately and constantly berate the coach and players. Basketball ebbs and flows. It's not an if but a when that every team will have a lull and look like shit. Here, on this forum, the expectation is that CJJ can't coach, and our team is underperforming for the talent level, which leads to all of the comments the minute they are not playing as well as capable. People act like the world is ending based on one half. CJJ has won more games than any other LSU coach to start his tenure. This past recruiting class is the best in over 20 years. It's a young team who is building chemistry, not to mention still maturing as young men. We are scraping to get into the NCAAT. There is a lot here to be fired up about, and not get down on them the minute things aren't going our way. MJ, Kobe, and others had their best seasons as basketball players when they were 27 years old. So, your peak physical performance as a combination of mental and physical maturity is likely 25-30 years old. These guys are 18-20 years old. The expectations on this forum are too high, and too quickly the mantra goes to the coach can't coach, or a player is overrated. It's a reflection of our society and the immediate reaction that social media promotes, I know, but it gets tiresome.
Expectations were a little too high at the beginning of the season. A preseason top 25 ranking and the Ben Simmons hype machine created those expectations. Truth is the team was better last year with Mickey and Martin, and there was no way Simmons could step in and out perform them.
The 09 team got screwed. If this team say goes 5-1 down the stretch and loses in the sect final, then gets a 8 seed and has to play Villanova in Philly, that's screwed.
To be honest, your 5-1 and lose in the SEC final scenario is unlikely, but it would probably garner them a 7-9 seed at best.
CBS updated their tournament bracket today. Yesterday's win over A&M put LSU back into the tournament in an 11 seed play in game.
I think so too. This team needed time to find itself, and get in a groove and not having Hornsby and Victor was key. They still need to play better defense and hit free throws though.
If LSU makes it they won't be worse than an 11 seed. The NCAA reserves seeds 12 through 16 for mid major teams and lower like the SWAC winner. I can't recall any team from a major conference ever being lower than 11th.
Mozt likely yes, although within the last couple of weeks I saw a projection of LSU playing Clemson in the 12 seed playin.
