Don't think Dildeaux will making any A&M fans: SEC does not, should not need Texas A&M | The Advertiser | theadvertiser.com
I am not asking for a Welcome mat. But i have been to almost every SEC stadium. Florida was pretty bad but they were more threatening with physical violence and I didnt like how they were yelling at my 4 year old kid. But I have never been to a place like A&M where it is vitriolic. I am not thin skinned I can take the ribbing. My issue with A&M is they insult our state, they insult or people, heritage etc. Its beyond a football game for them. It is true condescending look we are better than you. I never get that at Auburn or Alabama. Sure about football that happens but not about your heritage, people, families etc. Make fun of Jordan Jefferson, brag about the wins they had back int he 90s, say our uniforms are ugly. That is what our rivals in the SEC do. Sure sometimes you get the idiotic Auburn fan making up stories about us throwing bags of urine which is really funny more than anything because it is just stupid. A&M is different... The video of the cadet pulling a sword on someone. Pretty much sums it up.... I will never again go to College Station for an LSU game. I cannot think of a more miserable time in my life. And no I have never experienced A&M type behavior at ANY school SEC or non-sec.... Va Tech, Notre Dame, UNC, even Oregon so far. For me I cannot think of a WORSE addition than A&M. Sure the concept of whipping them each year... But the beating of those fans not worth it.
I still remember the 60s to mid 70s when we played them every year in Baton Rouge. It was the first game of the season for several years and early in the series we won most of the time. I still think of A & M as a good rivalry and would enjoy seeing them in the SEC. ldskule:
" They were pissed on ( literally)" I am sorry I find that hard to believe, was there bunch of drunk idiots on Bourbon street probably. But I have been in Tiger Stadium 100s of times and I have never ONCE seen someone pee on someone or throw "Bags of urine" Sure we have our idiots in spades. But NO more than Florida, Bama, Auburn or others. I have been to OU many times a friend is a season ticket holder. And I can say OU fans are extremely passive compared to SEC fans. But sorry I just dont buy it. I was on Bourbon both nights of the National Title game on the balcony or the Cats Meow. And I never once saw anything indicating but a bunch of people drunk having fun. Again we all have idiots I heard of many fights between Arkansas and Ohio State fans last year from friends back home. People who behave like that in all fan bases is those people are not fans of that program. They are their to start crap and join in the chaos. Anyway, off topic but this "LSU fans rape peoples cattle, throw urine, etc" I find 99% of the time is someone who gets offended because Tiger Bait was yelled at them and made up a story of their grandmother being assaulted and their children abducted by an LSU fan and sold on the black market. I can tell you for a fact I have had great times at many road games, never at A&M where we were verbally assaulted and our state and its people were insulted relentlessly on signs at tailgates and others. Make fun of our QB, make fun of our coaches time keeping problems. Leave peoples history, family and home out of it....
I was too young to remember the 70s but I do remember the 80s & 90s. I was hoping to bring the rivalry back and have both teams in the same conference. They've been playing each other off and on since 1899 with LSU having a 27-20 advantage.
Apparently the aggie alumni association also managed to send over a letter to the aggie alums, asking them to "engage their elected officials and ask them to consider Texas A&M’s need to do what is right and best for our school and our future, our President and other University leaders can focus solely on the best interests of Texas A&M today and tomorrow." Which is to say go call the Texas legislature and tell them to take our side. They also manage to accuse Texas alums, though not by name, of working the politics against them. Which is probably legit anyway.
The Texas legislature meeting to be held by Dan Branch and involving A&M and the Big 12 was scheduled for tomorrow but was cancelled. This is a sign of concession, IMO. This deal is done...just a LOT of details to be sorted out...in time. By the way, Slive was invited to attend this (cancelled) meeting, but declined...lol.
