I started to specify that, but it really only applied to the 2007 LSU game. Bama didn't beat them like that.

I understand what your saying about the change in recruiting and match-ups, but I see that being an easier transition for A&M than VT. You can't piss off the porch in TX without hitting talent, Virginia not so much and I don't see them being that successful pulling talent out the rest of the southern states to help them compete for titles. Maybe, I just don't see it. A&M atleast can say they are a TX school in the SEC so Texas players might want to stay home. Who cares if the 2 players out of Virgina every year worth a damn stays home? I'm kidding I know Virginia has descent HS football but what will hurt us more losing out on TX recruits or VA

VT is a good football team, pretty much year in and year out.... so they join the SEC east and, as it stands currently, that's Florida, Georgia, SC, Tenn, Vandy, and Kentucky.
Florida is the only team there that has been consistently better than VT over the past decade. I think VT would compete in the east quite well... and immediately... and benefit on the recruiting trail.

just saying.... to me, A&M in the west is the harder road. The east has had one team get to the NCG this decade, the west has had three.

The ACC is a basketball conference for the most part. Who in that league can't compete with the perennial basketball powers, but has a pretty good country football team? That is the team looking to move to the SEC.

Dude, I agree with you fully they are good and yes presently thats enough in the east. I'm not giving regular season titles here. So yes they can be in the top 3 in the east every year but they still have to play teams from the west and right now they would get rolled all I'm saying. They lose 3 games regular season and luck out win the east (ex. SC last season)already eliminates them from competing in the NC game then be a stepping stone for the west winner to go to the NC game thats fine with me. A&M other than last year cant compete with teams in the lil 12 so finacially they might as well get paid while being battered and bruised. Just think VT path is still better in the ACC

Since you brought up basketball. I read where they said when all the mega conferences happen they will combine whats left of the ACC with Big East. How sick would that basketball conference be that would be season tickets worth having.

I agree. People are so short sighted. Everything goes in cycles. Sure we whipped Va Tech 2007 in but the beat us 26-8 in 2002. And all people seem to remember is beating the Aggies in the Cotton Bowl. I remember when we used to play A&M every year. I they won the last 5 straight before the series was ended in 1995. (I was at that last game in CS)

I hear look at Arky and SC. They still haven't won an SEC title. Well since they have been in the SEC neither have Ole Miss, Miss St, Kentucky or Vandy and they are are tradition SEC schools. Arkansas has won the West 3 times and SC won the east last year. Ole Miss, Kentucky and Vandy have never been to a championship. So it's not like Ark and SC are perennial bottom dwellers.

That wasn't my point at all. What I mean is, VT is already dominating their own BCS conference, nearly always repping the ACC in the Orange Bowl. They might come in and be competitive, but they aren't going to dominate in the SEC. That's undeniable. NOBODY dominates year in and year out in the SEC. Why would VT want to come in here and try to hang with that, when they can just continue to dominate THEIR BCS conference??

That's also why I said it makes more sense for TAMU. They already don't win their BCS conference. They could come in here and compete at about the same level as they do in the Big 9 now, and start regrowing their once powerful program.

Well I wasn't addressing anything you said specifically. I was just agreeing with Hawker's statement about a general opinion I've noticed. But to your points...

    I agree completely

And that is what makes the SEC so great. It's the top level of competition so why wouldn't a top program aspire to be included?

What is the use of dominating an inferior conference? They could have dominated the Big East too but choose to more up. I would assume they would do the same with an SEC opportunity. Not to mention the prestige, national exposure, recruiting advantages and TV money that comes with being in the SEC. The same reasons the best athletes want to come to the SEC. To play with and be associated with the best.

I think it does benefit A&M more, but I don't think that necessarily means it does not benefit Va Tech also.
