A lot to be talked about after that fiasco

The saints didn’t get off to that fast start I was talking about, quit the opposite. They didn't start playing ball till 3 min left in the third quarter. The first half was the worst half of Payton and Breese’s career especially the second quarter. Offense, defense and special teams were bad. Blocked punts, sacks and picks will not get the job done. Drew Breese showed that he doesn’t deserve a 100 million dollar contract perhaps 89 million would be better. Just like last year the Saints could not stop the run with consistency. Steven Jackson had a great game but it was STEVEN JACKSON not Reggie Bush out there. Jackson is supposed to put up big numbers right? Feeley was held in check had under 180 yards passing and 1 TD not bad D on him. Bottom line two players won this game for St. Louis, Howie Long’s son and Steven Jackson came to play. Long blew up our line for 3 sacks nauseating.

Everyone talks about how many weapons we have and how explosive the offense is. We have so much talent to spread the ball!!! I never bought into that. It’s a team, one man goes down the whole unit suffers. That man was Mark Ingram. Our physical back did not suit up. With no explosive speed and power at RB, STL stepped back and picked Breese apart. IMO that caused the Offense to fizzle. No run menace generates no ball movement. 3 first downs rushing just plain old sucks. 56 total yards running end of story. 6 sacks wow where was the big screen pass we all love? It was easy to tell that Ivory wouldn’t fill those shoes, way to rusty. It could be at least 3-4 weeks before we see anything from Ivory worth talking about. Remember CI had preseason last year. The only person on the Saints that can put up big numbers after sitting on the shelf for a while is Colston.

Defense had a second game in a row with a TD and 4 sacks. 5 of 16 third down for STL not bad D. Lance Romance had a decent game 7 catches 1 TD, been a while since we seen those numbers. The rest of the offense failed to get off the bus. I think there was even a fight between Nicks and a coach JMFC! Pull it together guys.

5-3 is where I thought we would be when the season started. Tampa at home time for payback. We own ATL so 7-3. Not bad IMO. Don’t panic yet it’s early. A 7-3 start is a great start. Not saying the next two games will be easy but we can win those. Ingram will be back next week and we have a chip on our shoulder from 10-16-11 when we lost to TB might I add we should have won that game. Matt Ryan is overrated. We will split the series with ATL or sweep.

That being said if the team continues to keep playing like this we will not go deep into the playoffs. I am starting to question if Greg Williams might be a tad bit OVER RATED. Sacks are UP run defense is DOWN. You can have all the sacks you want but if you cant stop a guy from rushing over 100 yards then you don’t have the greatest defensive mind in the game. CSP should ask for his $400,000.00 back. Thanks for reading. :laflagwav :laflagwav :laflagwav

I don't think Greg Williams is overrated, but I do think our FA acquisitions are. Rogers and Franklin are abysmal and I think Vilma's more injured then letting on. Rogers is really only good when motivated, but since he only has a 1yr contract, you'd think he would step his game up, but doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Going forward, I think we're just going to have to sell out to stop the run and take our chances in the secondary.

As for the O-line and I mentioned this in another thread, but that is the worst performance I've seen out of them in the Payton era; especially they're pass protection. We NEVER give up that many sacks. That's why I'm hoping it was just an anomaly. Something that can be corrected now that their manhood has basically been challenged. But, if TB comes in and does the same thing, then it's going to be a long rest of the season.

Greg Williams has become predictable. And the only way we can get a pass rush is to blitz everyone.

That being said CSP needs to get his ass out of that luxury box eating hotdogs and spitting tabacky feet kicked up, and get his gimpy ass on the sidelines. If you can't use crutches then get a hoverround. You think Mike Didka and Vince Lombardy woud be feeling sorry for them self in a f'n booth? I heard CSP didn't even address the team at halftime! WTF? The saints need you coach rub some dirt on it and limp around the sideline. Get in the officials grill keep your players and coaches in check for Christ sake.

That's probably why he's become predictable. I'm not off of the GW bandwagon just yet because he has nothing to work with in the middle of the d-line. ZERO talent. Smith and maybe Ellis are the only 2 worth anything. Jordan is a work in progress. Franklin and Rogers flat out suck.

I think there's some credence to this. If there's any doubt how much value Payton brings to the team, it was evidenced on Sunday. He delegated too much to his assistance (and why not, it was the winless Rams) and, in turn, his team was not ready to play.

I'm not sure him being on the sidelines is going to make any difference or not, but he definitely needs to be more involved in the game planning and play calling, IMO.

I stick by my statements during the offseason. They needed to make some big FA moves to improve the defense. The cornerbacks and LBs are average (Vilma is slowing down).
