So at the end of this season, Larry Fitzgerald's contract is over, he also has a clause in his contract that prevents the Cardinals from slapping a franchise tag on him. The Saints have a receiving unit that with anyone other than Drew Brees would be considered mediocre at best ( my opinion). Could the Saints make a move for Fitz? Should they? Can you see the Brees to Fitz combo?

Could the saints even fit the salary he's wanting under the cap? Doubt it.

saints have a good WR corps. maybe not an elite #1 guy but colston is perfect for this system and brees makes the rest of them very good.

plus jimmy graham is going to kill it.

saints just need to keep both front lines intact and the rest will work itself out.

I agree we are better served to spend the money elsewhere. Drew spreads the ball around so much that it would really be a waste of resources for a high priced receiver to come here. In fantasy football rarely if ever does a Saint WR or TE reach the top ten in total points in a given year. Unlike the days of Aaron Brooks an Joe Horn, Brees actually finds the open man. It seemed like Joe Horn was double and triple covered on some plays, but that didn't seem to deter Brooks from throwing it his way.

The Saints have to pay Brees next season before they pay anyone else.

Saints need help at WR. Mechem and Henderson have great speed but hands of stone. There are some very average WR's out there that are better.

Fitzgerald signs an 8 year, $120 million, 0 Lombardi trophy deal with the Cards. He is off the table.

Disagree. Henderson still has the occasional dropsie, but he's improved his hands greatly from earlier in his career. Meachem is going to emerge as the go-to guy this year. But the bottom line is, Brees' accuracy eliminates the need for star receivers. You don't need a Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson to bail him out.
