    Does anyone notice some trends?
    2005 7-1
    2006 6-2
    2007 6-2 Won NC
    2008 3-5
    2009 5-3
    2010 6-2
    2011 8-0 Lost NC
    2012 6-2
    2013 5-3
    2014 4-4
    2015 5-3

    How about in this format?

    8...............................................[]...........................
    7...[]..........................................[]...........................
    6...[].....[].....[]...................[].....[].....[].....................
    5...[].....[].....[]............[].....[].....[].....[].....[]............[]
    4...[].....[].....[]............[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[]
    3...[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[]
    2...[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[]
    1...[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[].....[]
    ....05...06...07...08...09...10...11...12...13...14...15

So, I like to look at trends.
I see Miles' first 3 years 7, 6, and 6 wins with 07' bringing a NC. I think we were lucky to get into that game with 2 losses. I have not checked but I would think most years 2 wins and you get left out. Perfect storm for this one.

The next year the bottom falls out and they only win three. But then 5, 6 and all 8. The last one is the game that shall not be spoken of.

Then a downward slope as has been dissected to death at this point. I would like to add to that had we not been able to get Mett, the two years following 11 would have looked more similar to 08/09. This time around we hit the bottom last year and it appears to be back on the upswing. Hopefully, Miles runs everyone out of town not name Wilson or Orgeron. We have a few more key players on offense with more experience (cough Harris cough).

So, based on these trends of Miles' tenure I expect us to win at least 6 next year or possibly more if Harris gets it together. Probably of equal importance is getting the D back to dominance. Cliche time, defense wins championships. (Just ask Sean Payton)

(Disclaimer: Past performance does not guarantee future success.)

I hope you're predicting the trend correctly because I'm tired of losing 3 to 5 SEC games a year. We may have won one more than last year but what I saw didn't look like an upward trend.

We caught Miss St early. They only had 7 returning starters from last year, the fewest in the SEC. Had we played them a few weeks later who knows.

Auburn - yeah we kicked their butts, the worst team in the West. That was the only game this year in which we looked dominant. A fun game to watch and those have been rare as of late.

USCe - we benefit by getting an extra home game. Gamecocks endure massive flooding and trot out a backup QB. Yes we won in nice fashion but SC was emotionally spent and uninspired on top of being a bad team in general.

Florida- young, inconsistent with a new coach and a back up QB who stinks. FAU took them to OT on the road. We won a close one at home.

Then blowout loses to Bama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, the top three teams in the West.

Lastly a win against one of the worst defenses in the SEC and an anemic offense. Aggie ST handed us some gifts we couldn't open. The ball bounced our way on an emotional night in Tiger Stadium.

Without #7, this season would have turned out much differently. We struggled against teams we shouldn't have struggled with. We were blown out by teams we should have competed with or beat. Personally, this year didnt feel or look like a trend upward.

we were a complete farce heading into bama, a mediocre defense, an abysmal special teams and a qb who wasn't ready for the limelight....definitely trending down from last season

I can't disagree with either of you. I only looked at the record and not individual game circumstances that are obviously still fresh this year but have been forgotten from years past. How in the world did we go 7-1 the year of Katrina?

This was more of a wishful thinking post.

I also noticed my little graph gets distorted on mobile versions. So if you are on a phone or tablet the table format is jacked.

The state of next year's team will depend on 2 things.

    Brandon Harris
    Kendall Beckwith

If Harris can pull his head out of his ass, and overcome the poor QB coaching like Mettenberger did, even though he isn't built for this offense, LSU will be better on offense.

And if Beckwith leaves we are fucked on defense, but if he stays, the defense should be better.

We gave up around 25 ppg this year on defense.

    That's your problem right there

"Better" is just a relative term.

"Better" doesn't mean 1st place in the SEC West "Better."

Harris is NOT what LSU needs. Doesn't matter how much he improves, he's not going to bring us any Championships.

Can't throw the ball with any consistency or touch, can't read defenses, can't go through progressions, can't process information quickly and can't learn enough of Cameron's playbook to be effective.........................

If it takes replacement of the current DC to get there, so be it. You can't exactly expect the defense to win every game though. Regardless, the D needs to improve. A lot!
