LSU fought its way through a brutal SEC schedule at times without stars Matt Flynn, one-man quarterback-post traumatic stress disorder-inducing Glenn Dorsey, and Early Doucet, losing just twice in the quasi-football of the NCAA’s overtime system.

Sometimes, the complete picture matters. Marathons aren’t won by the fastest final mile, Oscars aren’t given out for the best ending and college football titles aren’t given to streaking teams in the postseason. It is what makes college football unique. Unlike every other sport, the regular season matters as much as the postseason, and championships, since the advent of everybody’s favorite whipping boy championship series, are almost without fail awarded to the best team of the season.
