http://theadvocate.com/sports/4216225-123/lsu-is-passing-more-but I'm telling you guys .. this pass game is going to come together. It's just a matter of .... well, ... blocking, WR's running good routes and catching the ball ... and maybe a little less windy day for Mett ... even though he said himself, that is no excuse for not hitting his receivers more often. [but you know it was a factor] It's going to happen .. I think it's going to happen on Nov. 3rd .. cause you KNOW that Saban is going to stack the box against the run. Afterall ... just listen to us .. "we can't pass the ball" ... imagine what they are thinking.
If we go to the predictable bubble screens/slants, Bama will be waiting for the pick6. Our only hope is downfield accuracy and relief valves to the TE and RB off the chip blocks. Oh yea, the lines gotta hold.
We've been waiting for the passing game to come together for five years. Sounds like Obama, just four more years and I promise hope and change for real this time.
regarding how that article pointed out stats showing how our passing game isn't as efficient as it was last year, another way to check on that is to look at the Passing Effiency stats here's a look at 4 SEC powers and how efficient their passing games have been in recent years. as you can see, we were a very efficient passing team last year, even better than in 2007 with Flynn. but yeah, the other 3 teams did much better over the years, hence frustrated LSU fans Passing Effiency 2007 -- #37 in the NCAA (Crowton--Flynn 359 att, Perrilloux 75) 2008 -- #80 in the NCAA (Crowton--Lee 269 att, JJ 73 att, Hatch 45 att) 2009 -- #49 in the NCAA (Crowton--JJ 296 att, Lee 40 att) 2010 -- #92 in the NCAA (Crowton--JJ 209 att, Lee 89 att) 2011 -- #24 in the NCAA (Stud/Krag--Lee 167 att, JJ 100 att) 2012 -- #87 in the NCAA (Stud/Krag--Mett) Alabama 2007 -- #86 in the NCAA (John Parker Wilson) 2008 -- #65 in the NCAA (John Parker Wilson) 2009 -- #34 in the NCAA (McElroy) 2010 -- #5 in the NCAA (McElroy) 2011 -- #34 in the NCAA (McCarron) 2012 -- #1 in the NCAA (McCarron) Georgia 2007 -- #61 in the NCAA (Stafford) 2008 -- #14 in the NCAA (Stafford) 2009 -- #50 in the NCAA (Cox) 2010 -- #13 in the NCAA (Murray) 2011 -- #25 in the NCAA (Murray) 2012 -- #9 in the NCAA (Murray) Florida 2007 -- #2 in the NCAA (Tebow) 2008 -- #4 in the NCAA (Tebow) 2009 -- #1 in the NCAA (Tebow) 2010 -- #94 in the NCAA (Brantley) 2011 -- #71 in the NCAA (Brantley) 2012 -- #31 in the NCAA (Driskel)
Tiger-fan --- Even tough these numbers you have compiled hurt to look at, I sure do appreciate your research. Thanks. You bring a lot of value to this forum.
Huh based on the 4 teams coaches above aside from UF and Urban Myth (who had he not left would have fallen behind les) Not ONE of the 4 teams coaches above has a better winning percentage than Lesticals. Including Mr. Saban - Winning percentage that is matter of fact Les is #3 in the history of the SEC (Neyland, Meyer, Miles in that order) Not defending our passing game, but we win because of killer defense and a brusing running game. Our passing game can haunt us sure but its probably #3 on the list of what gives LSU a chance every game. but LSU will NEVER go undefeated every year, we will lose games like all teams do in our league.... Note before anyone jumps on me. I heard this on the LSU Podcast on theadvocate.com today. it is posted if you wish to listen to it. I did not google this, i am simply repeating what I heard if Incorrect. Feel free to throw fruit
Jump on you? No, if anything, it is a good point to make b/c it maintains perspective. Again, most of us would like to see an improved O while not sacrificing anything on D/STs, but it is certainly good to point out while the passing efficiency is being dissected, that our winning percentage, the main goal, is phenomenal.
Winning is what matters. I don't understand why people lose sight of that and find things to complain about all the time. I really don't care how we win, as long as we win.
