A funny thing happened last night that the college football world hasn't realized, yet.

I also post a lot on a MMA board. There are quite a few college football fans so its always fun debates. Many on there are from Big Ten territory so yeah, they are very tired of what they call "SEC Media Hype." I always say, 6 BCS champ speaks enough for the hype. Not to mention the SEC usually has a nice pertage of wins during the bowl games.

I also point out how many times the ESPN talking heads are touting the Pac 10 or Big 12 as the best conference until they falter. Fact is the SEC has proven to be the best conference. I also point out no way would any of those teams be as good if they were playing SEC caliber schools week in and week out. Look at the muderous stretch S Carolina had with UGA, LSU, and UF. Id love to see Oregon, K State, Ou, FSU, Ohio St, etc run that gauntlet.

I know what you mean, I even feel a little bit sorry for Saban.

Watching ESPN recap last night, I got a kick out of Lou Holtz grimacing at the mention that ND would probably lose to USC, but then thought it was quite insightful on his part reporting that coaches find it much more rewarding building a championship team than maintaining it. Holtz said that once the wins become expected, winning is just a relief and it stops being fun.

ESPN then cut to the Saban press conference where Saban said that he thought that the pass intercepted in the end-zone was a good call but since it didn't work, it's questioned by all, but if they would have called a run and that would have failed, everyone would have been questioning why they didn't pass. Saban sure had the look for someone who was very tired.

Who knows, just like another successful LSU coach who left LSU for greener pastures, Saban might retire to Baton Rogue and take up water coloring. Maybe he could find a part time job working for ESPN.

I'll never feel sorry for Saban--ever. He can kiss my ass.

In 1998 (the first year of the BCS) Wisconsin represent the Big 10 in the Rose against UCLA and Ohio State got an at large bid to the Sugar to play A&M.The Big 10 swept their BCS bowls that year BTW.

The SEC put both Tennessee and Bama in the following year, but they laid a turd.

The Pac 10 pulled dual wins from nonchampionship games in 2000 wit Washington and Oregon State representing.

The SEC got the dual sweep with blowouts delivered from Florida and LSU.

The list goes on and it would be easier to point to 2004 & 2006 as the only two seasons that didn't have a conference with two teams in a nonchampionship BCS bowl.
