Jefferson's play and his ability to "know what's going to happen" have never worried me in the first game and last game (bowl game) when JJ has had weeks to prepare. It's his ability to know what the heck is going on when he's gearing up for a different opponent every week that scares the bejesus out of me!
BUMP When you go back and read this, the attitude & excitement about JJ (Me Included) was not "all that" when were discussing what he was going to bring the team this year. It makes me feel better after reading this that we still had hope of a win over Oregon and good chances at a BCSNC run regardless of what play we were going to get from JJ
I've got a few thoughts. Miles says he's going top lay 2 maybe 3 quarterbacks. That means there isn't one quarterback that he likes. I think we will struggle at the qb position unless someone breaks out.
I think thats a given..... we will always struggle until one is a great QB. But I just cant fathom another season of piss poor passing. Something has to give, you cant tell me that of all the talent we recruit, all the talent we have on our roster that we cant field a decent QB with a decent passing game. It just doesnt make any damn sense. GC is gone, he was the problem right?
As an interesting fact, Look at our roster, I think you can find 14 players that were High School QB's now playing other positions on our team. Reuban Randle, Spencer Ware, Shepard, Gibson, etc... it is quite a list. We should be able to halfback pass and flea flicker with any number of players. lol. My only concern with Lee is that he throws almost every throw off of his back foot. He never really steps into the throw. I don't know if anyone else sees that or not, but I have always thought that was part of his problem. I hope he does well, but I expect to see Mett and I have a suspecion that J. Randall will be on the field in wild tiger formation and will surprise some folks with his abilities (caveat to this is if Magee gets nod in wild tiger, to keep redshirt for Randall).
Lee didn't have Krags before this past off-season. He really is a fantastic QB coach. In '08, Lee was making plays and throwing TD's out of sheer natural ability. I'm excited to see what he's capable of after some polishing up.
I agree that Lee posesses natural talent and ability. He is a smart kid, seems to keep his cool, has a good arm, and he was thrown to the wolves as a Freshman. I really hope that Krags coached him up and he is ready to go. Our offense has all the tools to be a juggernaut. The Crowton/Miles experiment did not work out, I am willing to bet the Krags/Stud does.
