Phenom, I think a lot of people feel this way. We will not compete for a NCG under Les Miles.

With no playoff and the BCS formula in play...whoever does play in the National championship game is lucky to get there (or unlucky to not get there).

Over 100 teams will not get there under their present coach.

Pre Season, OL and Quarterback was supposed to be Bama's weakness. According to many LSU fans, Quarterback was going to be our strength.
According to Miles, the OL was going to be a strength of the team.

    Certaily there was a want.

I disagree with your asesment of Bama's strength.

While true that a lot of LSU fans thought that Bama's weakness would be in their QB and OL, that was because LSU fans spouted this opinion without any thought about it at all. In fact, They opined these thoughts not out of rational analysis, but out of a willing to project weakness onto Alabama's team. LSU fans weren't thinking...they were hoping!!

McElroy was a superior HS quarterback prospect coming out of high school who broke a lot of Colt McCoy's records. He was a backup QB for THREE years at Bama under the same offensive coordinator. Most LSU fans didn't know this (and most LSU fans wont admit that they didn't know this either). What they did know was that Jarrett Lee threw a bunch of pick sixes and it was his first year so McElroy had to be just as bad as Lee because it was his first year starting.

As far as the OL is concerned, Most LSU fans saw Bama lose to Utah in the sugar bowl by getting man handled on the offensive line. They were sooooo happy that they cemented their opinions about Bama's OL based on that single game.

Guess what? Bama's OL turned out to be the best in the SEC and they didn't have the troubles at QB that everyone wished for.

McElroy is a 4th year junior who came from a great football high school for quarterbacks, and was asked to run a very simple offense. Jordan Jefferson had a similar background, don't know about Destrehan's coaches, but was asked to take over his freshman year in an extremely complicated offense. Its an unfair comparison.
