You forget that Matt Flynn was a redshirt Senior with one start and he lead us to the NC in 07. So Matt Flynn was coached up by CLM and staff. McElroy is a redshirt junior. Alabama's running game and defense win games. Jefferson hasn't cost LSU a game. If Alabama had to rely on McElroy to carry team they wouldn't be SEC champs that they are today.

I hope Im wrong but I dont see LSU playing for a title again under Miles. Like you said LSU rarely put together an entire game in all facets. LSU was severly under coached the last two years. We never showed any improvements during the season for two years in a row. UF and Bama are recruiting just as good as LSU, we will need improved coaching to compete. I really hope Miles can do it, after seeing no improvement in the team for two straight years though I dont have much faith in him.

Really....no improvement? None? Aside from two more wins in the regular season and going to the Cap One Bowl vice the Peach, no improvement? The defense? No, there was no improvement there either from last year?

Really, can we all please just get a little perspective here.

Heaven forbid that we are up next month in the Cap One Bowl against a Big Ten opponent and our coach gives up a Hail Mary at the end to lose the game. This happens to Les and all hell will break loose. He'll be even more reviled for being an inept coach who can't manage a game. Yet, it happens to a "better coach" and five years later we've got some people here who swears he can do no wrong.

LSU was making the same boneheaded penalties all year. The OL never improved, the DL didnt, the play calling didnt, etc. LSU struggled pretty much all year. We played way below the talent. Say what you want but thats poor coaching.

Don't you think the player's have some accountability also for the the stuggles you mention? You can't lay it all on the coaches.

Most certainly the players take some blame. The OL showed zero fire. Again though, the coaches have to coach that up or sit some asses down. There is no accountablility with the coaches. Look at how Lee was rode to the ground last year. While the players are at fault to an extent, the coaching was very horrific this year.

Good coach, yes. Helluva coach? Lets see. Florida was off this year. Never looked sharp. Should have lost to Arkansas. We more than held our own with Bama this year and dominated them the first half. But for losing our starting back and a bad call, who knows how that game ends. And we aren't even that good this year.

Saban got hammered by Utah last year. His bowl record in the SEC not that far above .500. His time in Miami was a debacle. His inability to commit to any single organization over his entire career...

I'll wait a bit longer before scheduling his coronation ceremony.

I actually felt that the team improved thsi year and was less penalized than last year. A quick search of the SEC website proves me correct. LSU ranks 5th in the SEC, only slightly more penalized than Alabama and better than UF, UGA, Ark and Vandy (who is usually known for being the best disciplined team in the conference).

The D-Line did improve as the season went on, but we agree about the O-Line...
