Just a little thing that I have noticed. Saban won with Shulas recruits. Sabans recruits have contributed very little. That being said, he did coach up what he inherited. JM2CW

nah, he won with his own recruits AND shula's. just like miles won with his AND saban's.

the point is, people won't say saban won with shula's players because he's perceived as a great coach. miles is perceived as the opposite so he gets no credit.

    sad but true.

Yes, although McElroy managed a number of games throughout the year, he's much better than people give him credit for.

He did more than manage the game today. He was great. Bama's staff has done a good job with him and pretty much everyone on that team.

It was the best game I've seen McElroy play. Although I have only seen him play a hand full of times.

You are right there. But the stars that Saban recruited have not been so great so far. Just saying. I think he is a helluva coach. More coaches should learn from him, and be able to get the most talent out of the players you have. I honestly think across the board, LSU has more talent than any SEC school this year. Just did not show it. And in that note, USC probably had more pure raw talent than anyone in the country. Where did that get them. Coaching X's and O's is one thing. Getting the players to rise to the occasion is another.

Speaking of recruits, Javier Arenas is one of Shula's players and he's one of the best players in Bama history.

No other SEC team even recruited the guy. Just like Florida Atlantic and FIU...

Shula found a real diamond there. He's been awesome since he played for Shula. Saban can thank him for that. And he almost quit because of personal issues and Saban talked it over with him telling him he should stick with it.

He's got the SEC record for punt return TDs and he was just a few yards away from the NCAA record for punt return yards. He's a great defensive back and ended any chance Florida had with an INT. in the end zone.

By the way, the best thing about Saban is that he makes it a priority to get his best talent on the field in any way he can to have a real impact the game. Huge difference between what's happening there and what's happening with our best talent.

I may be mistaken but isn't Mcelroy a senior? If so, I think there is a big difference in the two situations. May be his first year starting but he has been around learning alot longer. And wasn't 07 Flynn's first year starting? But being that senior meant everything.

    Apples and oranges.

The only way to prove your theory, which is impossible to do, is to have Saban coach JJ and Miles coach McElroy.

My suggestion would be to quit acting like a bunch of jealous children.

Whoa Nellie! McElroy took a redshirt year and is now a Jr., so he started AFTER being in the program for 3 years.

JJ is a true soph, so he started the season with one year in the program.

You simply cannot underestimate that difference. Bama had much more EXPERIENCE to work with.

When Crowton arrived and had a 5th year Sr. to put in at QB, we won a nat. championship.

Comparing JJ at this stage of his career with McElroy is simply not a fair comparison.

USC is starting a true frosh at QB, and they dropped their 4 game today, in the PAC 1. Those inexperienced QB's will kill you, usually.
