That's actually when I remember hearing it (when Saban took the job at Bama). I recall at least a couple of LSU fans mentioning that Saban hated our boosters and their meddling with predictions that he would encounter similar issues with Bama's boosters. I bet that if I searched long enough, I could find a thread on this site about it.

The meddling stops when your program is dominant and wins

The downward trend continued Saturday night- right after Alleva finished his statement with 'Okay?'-
looking like he just had a two hour enema.

Purely my opinion- Saban left for two reasons. 1- the NFL bug was always going to nibble on him but also 2- I don't think he felt he could maintain a high level of quality at Lsu. Perhaps 'meddling' was a factor . The dynamic that made him relaxed - if he ever is relaxed- changed here, and he felt if he wanted to eventually to leave for NFL, he better jump before his stock went down. Remember he still had not become Saban the rock star. He was a coach who succeeded in his second stint at a big time program who did have NFL experience as an assistant. As I say, a theory. Bottom line- destiny was not his being here long term.

He was making 2.3mil at LSU and LSU offered him 4mil. However Miami offered him 5mil and complete control of all football related decisions, power most NFL coaches didn't have. He left because he wanted to coach in the NFL and the offer was far too good to pass up.

It all looks pretty simple to me. If you plot a coup to take down Caesar, you don't let that plot become public because then it's a plan. And if your plot to take down Caesar, especially a Caesar who is popular with the people, does become public then you don't give Caesar access to the people or the people access to Caesar before you can implement your plan because Caesar will sway the people and they will crush the plotters.

That's exactly what happened here. The administration wanted Les gone but the plan became public and Les had access to the people. Hell, on his radio show men, women and children all cried. Then there were the signs in the stadium. Then there was Les being carried off to sign the Alma Mater live on national TV ending with a rousing "Forever L-S-U!"

The Praetorian Guard had to slip back into the shadows knowing Caesar had control of the people and the Coliseum.

If Sexton wouldn't have demanded such a high price Miles would be gone.

So if I'm going to order a Caesar Salad I shouldn't tell anybody until the waiter takes my order.
