Well said. I can't imagine us burning a scholarship just to show up Bama at this point or any time in the future. Considering we contend nationally for the top recruits, that would be foolish. The top programs stay at the top because they get the best student/athletes. Luther played a foolish game that backfired on him, regardless of what the actual sequence of events may have been (which we will probably never know), and wound up making him look really silly. Regardless of his possible regrets, he just needs to take this opportunity to be a man and live up to his commitment to Bama and make the best of it. I think we all know that Bama will improve as a team and it will only make our victories over them that much sweeter. Did you ever really feel that good about beating up your little brother? I personally would like to get to gameday with Bama and worry about something more important than "did we bring enough ice for all this beer?" Come on guys, next year will be our own "thumb" over them, it's getting boring. If nothing else, watching his every move on the field will give the announcers something to talk about in the 4th quarter when the game, is once again, hopelessly out of the tide's reach.
Yes, I see what you mean. He lost too much credibilty; it would be a RISK taking him back. I wouldn't waste a scholly just to spite Saban. BTW, I hate the talk of "big surprises" on signing day. Doesn't help the anxiety that is already there......
I didnt want to start a new thread so I will put this article here. From ESPN article "All You Need to Know for NSD": Joe McKnight, RB (River Ridge, La./John Curtis Christian) The most dynamic player in the 2007 class has narrowed his choices to three schools: Ole Miss, LSU and USC and has decided not to take all five of his official visits. He fits in well at USC, and the Trojans certainly would know how to use him, considering their experience with Reggie Bush. However, we get the sense McKinght might prefer to stay closer to home. Regardless, he is a difference-maker and can be expected to be on the field right away. We'll find out where he lands when he opens our signing day show on ESPNU with his announcement (noon, ESPNU). Terrance Toliver WR (Hempstead, Texas) It's down to Florida or LSU, and both could use his services, with top performers from each squad departing. He fits in really well in both offensive schemes and has the mental and physical capacity to play as a freshman. He's a Dwayne Jarrett-type, only faster. He, too, will announce his decision with us on signing day on ESPNU. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/news/story?id=2755910
ding ding ding we have a winner! i don't understand it. not only was this thread not asking about the merit of his site, but people didn't actually read what he wrote. he said he didn't believe them, but he was hearing the rumors. wtf will it take for people to move up on their reading comprehension skills? now back to the point of this thread... the only surprise that could happen would be either jm to ole miss, but most people shouldn't be surprised by that with all the info that has come out the past few days. another one could be us losing a recruit to somewhere else like jarred lee to texas or something similar. i have no idea what it might be, but every year people talk about what the surprise might be and every year they get it wrong. however, every year there is a surprise or two.
My cousin in Alabama (a big Tiger fan) told me he has heard over the radio that McKnight will not commit on Wednesday because he wants to see what happens with USC in regards to the Bush controversy. Personally, I don't buy it. McK could have a long wait if that is his intent. I believe he will commit around noon tomorrow. But his decision not to would certainly be a surprise.
