Re: 7/21 Updated Rivals Rankings That was 2 releases ago. I believe he moved up a little from the last update.
Re: 7/21 Updated Rivals Rankings Man, I'm not one for conspiracy theories or anything...but if anyone doesn't think Rivals is biased, they're insane. I've watched their rankings for years and wonder how Alabama commits, among others, just soar up. Some deserve it, others are just a huge head scratch. Their is no question its all about subscriptions. Notice how the huge subscription areas have their team recruits with inflated rankings, despite the players looking extremely overrated. I know it has a lot to do with Rivals having limited resources to small population states like Louisiana...but that doesn't excuse them from focusing more in other areas, which makes them bias. Just looking at that list...I can name a few guys that don't deserve, at least from their film, to be in the top 50. I remember that RB from California, Wood, I never understood how that dude was staying in the top 10 rankings. With all that being said though, I think overall, they do the best job ranking. I guess you got to inflate some people to keep subscriptions going.
Re: 7/21 Updated Rivals Rankings LSU finishes in the top 10 of their rankings every year. The conspiracy theory is getting old.
Re: 7/21 Updated Rivals Rankings Well, its not really a conspiracy theory when Rivals own admits to limiting its resources in "low" subscription areas. It is what a business is going to do. Hence why, all the major population areas have the most people in the rankings. Yet, if you look in the NFL, Louisiana has more people there per person, than any other state. I'm 100% sure they have some bias but who doesn't? That is like trying to argue media doesn't have bias and Rivals is a business...so you don't think they're going to hype their biggest subscription areas off? It is what makes them money. I'd do the same if I was them.
Re: 7/21 Updated Rivals Rankings I think they do a fine job covering our region. Remember, they are located in the South. And wouldn't you guess that LSU has one of their top 10 largest subscriber bases? That's my guess. I know a lot of westcoast people that complain about their coverage. IMO they may have more validity than complaints LSU fans have. There's not a big fan base out there besides USC.
Re: 7/21 Updated Rivals Rankings Which is exactly why they're biased. California/Texas/Florida have huge populations, thus they get more subscriptions. No, I wouldn't say LSU has a lot of subscriptions to Rivals. They've admitted to having low resources when compared to other states here. And anyone who has had a Rivals/Scout subscription, knows that Mike is far lazier/late on his scoops compared to Scout. That is just my opinion though.
