A bit of a gaff. And what about USC staying on top?

And UConn beat them by nearly the same margin.

Look. USC was ranked highly to start and they've won big, pleasing the rout loving pollsters. Fine. I don't have a problem with that. But to tout Sanchez for Heisman and to gush mightily that this team has no weaknesses is going to be hard to take because no one on their schedule can disprove it. This crap is going to go on for the rest of the year and without a QB, there's nothing LSU can do about it.

This is exactly why I, and James Carville among others, wanted to see Georgia play USC in the Rose Bowl last year.

USC dominating #1 and OU passing GA is what I expected and predicted.

The only problem is letting OSU linger at #13/#14. They should have been dropped to #20. Now if they run the table they have a legit shot at going to their 3rd ass whoopin in a BCS title game in a row.

I can tell you all this-I cannot stand USC. However...

If USC isn't #1, who is?? Offshore Trash is right. As far as why LSU, GA, FL, or OK can't jump them...only OU and FL have that possibility. The reason is because LSU and GA aren't likely to be good enough. UGA will have possibly two losses before they get to Baton Rouge, and LSU will likely end up with 2 themselves.

As for UF and OU, OU has the better chance...as UF plays in the SEC. Personally, based on recent history, I think OU WILL jump them...since USC has a propensity to lose to Utla or Stanford. Then, also based on recent history, OU will lose badly in the Big 12 CG, and whatever BCS bowl they wind up in.

Bottom line, ECU and BYU in the BCSCG.:hihi:

Offshoretrash - They were pretty incredible from 2003 - 2005. How many Pro players were on those teams? Do you really think this team is the best Pete's had? The 2003 team pretty much killed every team they played (including blanking Auburn 23-0 at Auburn). Their only L was a close one at Cal in OT. That 2004 team beat an undefeated OU 55-19 (with Adrian Peterson) in the BCSCG. Come on now... And that 2005 team was even better, but had an extremely tough opponent in the BCSCG. They still barely lost (41-38) to Texas even after the Longhorns had the best performance by a college QB that I've ever seen. It was pretty much a miracle that USC lost that one. This year's team has to do a lot more to be called the "best" of Pete's teams.

USC does a good job of beating the crap of solid opponents, but they have had some issues with somewhat crappy teams. I don't care if this is not last year's team. They were a 41-point favorite against Stanford last year and lost. That would have been like North Texas beating LSU (except Stanford is a conference rival). There's no excuse for that in any year and they were loaded last year as well. They basically have the same team back with a few differences. I do think this is their easiest schedule (not because they scheduled easy, but because the teams on their schedule won't be as good as usual). But they've only played TWO games. MANY on this board SWORE that they would cruise last year. What happened? I'm not saying they can't do it, because they are a great team with lots of talent. But the season is long...

The scenario I would be curious to see (2003 repeat?) is if USC and Oklahoma both go undefeated and LSU does the same. How do pollsters leave out the defending national champions who also swept through nine SEC games? Could they? Would they?

Hey, if LSU went through Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Bama and then likely Florida or Georgia again, they'd be in the BCSCG no matter what. OU would be out because even the biased media would want to see a USC vs. LSU showdown. We already saw USC vs. OU a few years ago as I mentioned eariler. That wasn't pretty.

However, I don't see LSU going undefeated with that schedule and new QBs. I never rule anything out and I can keep dreaming, but Florida in THE SWAMP is going to be unbelievably tough. I promise you Florida players, coaches and fans have have that one circled. However, if by chance we do pull that off, then we could run the table. But that's far out there and winning this week will be a big enough challenge. Go Tigers!

If USC goes undefeated, they will stay at number 1 and play for the BCS. Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, LSU, among others, etc...ALL playing for number 2 no matter what happens in the SEC.
