actually i saw a special on him months before the olympics began and they found he has an extremely long torso for his height with long arms and short legs for his body which makes him an extremely efficient swimmer. Much like a fish. and a big thing is they showed him lie flat on his back while on the ground then extend his feet flat and perfectly straight. so they said his size 14 feet become extension of his legs and basically become flippers. he can make a perfectly straight line from his knees to the end of his toes. which is obviously not normal. guess the dude's evolution tree begins with some dolphin or fish much later than ours. like a week ago. eta: john your creaming over phelps is worrisome. I remember who that last person to fill the void was.
Hmmm. There was a story in the news a while back about some inappropriate activity going on between some divers and some dolphins.
Watch out for the new cereal boxes! It was fun to witness rare history being made. When I think about Phelp's achievement, I can't help thinking it was Lezak who was the real hero with his superhuman performance in the 4 x 100 freestyle relay.
and After that last team relay race that gave Phelps his 8th Gold, when they interviewed all four of them... two of them were basically coming across like they felt that Phelps is a god. The other guy was saying that he did it for Kobe and Lebron, who were watching in the stands (which I thought was pretty weak). As for Phelps, if I had been in his shoes during that interview, I would have looked at Lezak and told him that he was the man, that I wouldn't have had this moment that I have right now, had it not been for you. You, Lezak, are the man. But, Phelps didn't do that... but then again, Phelps didn't do anything during his interviews that made me think he had a mature, intelligent human mind, even for a kid his age (honestly, he comes across to me like he has a complete lack of understanding of the greatness of what he accomplished... but, Spitz said the same thing... that looking back on it, he did not even come close to appreciating what he had accomplished at the time. It wasn't until many years later that it dawned on him). I saw an interview with Phelp's dad, and he didn't rave about Phelps as a person, he just said that Phelps has just been blessed with the perfect anatomy for one to achieve what he did as a swimmer (he also added that Phelps still had to work and train hard for many years to make this happen, which he felt that he did). Made sense to me.
