Ideals, not really party. The Tea Party kind of took over the Republican and Libertarian Party and we have gotten a bunch of bipolar people representing them like Ted Cruz. Now Ted seems like a guy who is right on when it comes to challenging the status quo in Washington, but he really falls short on social issues. Plus there is something about him I can't put my finger on that really creeps me out. But I like that he believes like Rand Paul does in the 4th amendment. unfortunately it is the damn democrats who are the only ones talking about real issues sans foreign policy. Christianity and abortion shouldn't take up half your debate. Do we really want a President who thinks God is talking to them? That's fucking frightening to me. I've been stuck in this political hell because I have no choice but to vote democrat because republicans trying get elected seem like people who have escaped Pinecrest (@red55 you get that one don't you). Income inequality is a problem, poverty is a problem, tax cuts for billionaires and campaign finance is a problem, climate change is a problem, The United States of Prison is a problem, and so is the drug war, legalize pot and tax the fuck out of it. Militarization of the police is a problem. Healthcare and Foreign policy is a problem and only the fucking democrats talk about all these issues. It sucks. It really does, and sadly I just don't think any politicians really represent us.
1. Income inequality is a political buzzword invented by Democrats to spur unrest among the middle class. There have always been some people with a lot more money than others and there always will be. As I have pointed out before the discrepancy is less now than it was during the robber baron days. 2. Poverty in the USA doesn't mean the same thing as poverty in the third world. Even poor people in this country have cars, cable TV and internet, big screen TVs, and food on the table. 3. Climate change is a problem. Yesterday the heat index was 114 4. While there are likely some people in prison who shouldn't be there, do you want armed robbers, burglers, and crack and meth heads loose in your town or neighborhood? 5. Legalize pot and keep the tax reasonable. If the tax it too high there will still be a black market. There still is in Colorado where dealers sell affordable pot as opposed the the high priced high taxed legal strains available in a pot store. 6. The very existence of a police force is by nature paramilitary. Armed persons with the law on their side. Weed out the rogue cops and the bad apples. 7. Healthcare is a problem that nobody has come up with a good solution for, neither Democrats or Republicans. 8. Only Democrats talk about foreign policy??? Are you deaf? Obviously the Democrats feel that it's better to give than receive. We are doing all the giving and Iran is doing all the receiving.
the fact that you compare now to the robber Barron days is a testament how bad income inequality is. It's not made up, it's very real, and the robber baron days lead to the great depression. Measures were put in place and eventually lead to the 40's and 50's which were times where the American Dream could be attained by anyone, now it's more like the American nightmare. You know what made the 40's and 50's great? The rich paid higher taxes. When did I say let murderers and rapists out of jail? I'm talking about non violent drug offenders. The militarization of police is a big deal, this isn't Beirut. The answer to healthcare is easy, higher taxes, single payer system. And I said the only real topic discussed during the republican debate was foreign policy and we know where republicans stand on that. Go to war. More boots on the ground in the Middle East. Pump more money into defense which I wouldn't mind if it went to our veterans and not to build a shit load of jets and tanks that will never be used, or to give money to Israel or other foreign countries.
