FOX and the Republicans are damn scared of Trump. He is going to eat their shit. Trump is an equal opportunity shit talker. No one is spared. People will call him racists, woman hater, etc....No, he is just like that to everyone. lol. FOX's approach to that so called "debate" was dumb. They attacked the republican front runner like that.
He can win the republican nomination. It will be hard, but if he does I think he gets the backing. He is also extremely rich. I dont think it would take much for him to simply run as a independent with no intentions of winning just to fuck shit up.
That's exactly what they did, and some prominent republicans better come out and show him some love because you don't back the Donald into a corner. The dude is going to screw the whole election up for the GOP, but that may be his intention anyway. The way John Kaisich handled him is the exact way you do it. He was brilliant. If I had to bet on who the candidate will be though, it's gonna be Marco Rubio, with Carly Fiorina as his running mate.
Another issues is that the Republicans are stuck on so called "conservative" issues. They wont move. He has shown and has moved on certain issues. If he somehow tones down his rhetoric, it will get interesting.
I should add, where Trump can benefit from flipping on past issues is the fact that he was never a politician. He would actually have a legitimate reason to flip. Or, could spin a reason as such. Thats where FOX really screwed up. Trying to play the "got-ya" game.
Trump fell right into the trap. He just can't take criticism. Anybody asks him a question he doesn't like and he lashes out. It screams "I am an amateur politician". Nobody talks to the CEO like that and he thinks America agrees that he should be treated with kid gloves. What an idiot! He is completely un-Presidential and is making it obvious. Politicians learn to let criticism roll off their backs and stick to their talking points. The Donald could not get elected mayor in a small town. Just watch the media pile on now. It's going to get a lot worse before he quits in disgust.
He actually answered it very well. The line of questioning towards him was basically the only thing out of line. Trumps numbers only got better because of that debate.
You know I really don't have a problem with people changing their views on issues. People change. Let's face it, we live in the Information Age. Sane people evolve. It's the people that flip on issues and lie about it that should get raked. Trump didn't do that, he admitted he changed. Marco Rubio lied about abortion. Or was it Cruz, I can't remember. But you're right, it's the same ole issues only the base cares about, and most of them are wedge issues except the foreign policy bit.
You aren't seeing that people are eating that shit up though? His numbers went up after the debate. Dude is polling 25 percent out of 17 candidates. Now as candidates drop I don't see many people switching over to him, but if the GOP and Fox News keep targeting him, he will run as an independent and he could lose some states for republicans. Shit if he were run as an independent, Im gonna vote for him. Hillary doesn't have a shot in Louisiana, maybe Trump does.
People are sending messages with these polls that they are fed up with politics as usual. That does not mean that they will vote that way. He's alienated Hispanics already and now he's alienating women. These are two areas that the GOP wanted to make headway with after losing them in the last several elections. Now Trump is making the Republicans brand look anti-women and anti-minority and they don't like it. He will never carry the intellectuals because he's an idiot and he'll have trouble with the Tea Party because they suspect he is a RINO. Moderate swing voters are deeply suspicious of his egocentric antics. In our way-too-long presidential campaign and bizarre primary system early leaders are always a popularity contest. Substance come into play later on. If he runs as an independent, the Republicans will lose. If he wins the nomination, the Republicans will lose. They are counting on him to make further gaffes, which he will, and alienate further voters, which he will. If he fails to win any early primaries, he will drop out and that is what the GOP is counting on.
