That was the problem, we had a good running game but not a great one we could lean on in tough times (unless you count the McNeese and ULM games as examples). We would have lost vs both Florida and Alabama had the passing game not taken flight.
He has had 2 signature wins. The win on the road against Auburn in 08 and the Florida game this year.
If someone had told you our QBs would throw for a grand total of 6 TDs, you probably would have wondered if you even wanted to watch any of the action unfold. That had 6-6 written all over it.
SH!T NO!!! Just pointing out that if you're going to use stats for your argument, tell the whole story. Jeez Louise!
Jarrett Lee threw 13 TD's in 08, 16 int's. Jordan threw 17 TD's in 09. How in the wide wide world of sports did we only get 6 TD's from quarterbacks this year? How is possible for quarterbacks to get worse with more playing time?
The answer is easy .... they designed an offense around a "running" QB who is pretty pathetic at running! I mean .. you apologist can talk about his feet all you would like, but JJ is no Newton, Robinson, or Pryor. He's not even a Martinez or Massoli. Crowton is probably the most to blame. The guy does not have a clue about what a good passing game looks like. I mean .. that rediculous WR screen over and over was a joke. It made the team look bad.... especially the QBs. BUT .. the most important thing to any offense is "confidence". JJ lost his last season and hasn't found it yet. Lee, lost his, then found it, only to have it ripped away from him again by the CS after his performance in the TN and FL games. You can't expect a guy to be confident when it is evident you have no confidence in him yourself. CLM with all his fluff made the wrong call, IMO. He should have let Lee play the entire game against McNeese to build on his momentum. Not just his, but the entire offense' momentum when he was in. I don't hide my bias .. I don't like running QBs. Unless they are some kind of superstar, which Jefferson most certainly is not, they take away from a good offense IMO. Sure .. they'll make a play or two, but that is about it. The result is that you lose to an Auburn and Arky team you should have beat.
Just remembered that in reality we actually only had 5 TD passes from our QBs, as one of them was a option pitchout that just happened to be pitched a yard ahead and was changed from a Ford TD run to a Ford TD reception.
