    Re: BCS Baloney

I am not as worried about Georgia as I am Va Tech. I was speaking for others who have mentioned them. I figure we will jump them with a win over a Tennessee team that beat them.

I thought the BCS would look like this:

    1. Mizzou
    2. WV
    3. Ohio State
    4. Georgia
    5. Kansas
    6. LSU
    7. Va Tech
    8. USC
    9. Oklahoma
    10. Florida

I could have even lived with Kansas being on top of us...just not a Va Tech team that I don't feel has played a schedule like ours. And for heaven's sake we beat them by 40+ points!

That's what I thought it would look like too, except wasn't sure about the order of 1 and 2

Ya'll are not alone. 3 of 6 BCS computers put ASU ahead of USC.

This is what happens when you lose late in the season.
We lost to an unranked team in Arkansas if I remember correctly.
VT has 2 losses, both to ranked teams and earlier in the season than we did.
VT is a much improved team over when we last played them.

I would agree with you that thier schedule might not have been as tough as
ours but in college football, it doesn't matter, see Ohio State, USC.
In college football it isn't only about winning its about how you win.

Btw VT played 2 teams in the top ten and 2 in the top 25, 3 if you count this saturday.
Those rankings are as of now so that could be either way.

You're right about much of that, and that is a fine indicator of the sorry state college football has sunk into. But just as Kansas is a phony, and Az. State was a complete mirage, Va. Tech is a hoax. They are exactly the team that lost to LSU 48-7. The difference now is that they have their mojo back after waltzing through what is by far the worst BCS conference in the country. I live right here in the middle of it, and the ACC is even worse than the Big 10. Virginia Tech would be 6-5 playing a full SEC schedule.

You have to go to the Ivy League to find a softer bunch than NC State, Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, Maryland and Virginia. The Hokies choked against BC, a pretty good team if they played in the WAC, Georgia Tech stinks, and Clemson is halfassed. But golly, the Hokies have the 6th. ranked defense in the country, playing all those mutts.

Still, you're right, that's how this sorry system works. Sure would be nice to see some of these people have to meet an SEC team in a playoff wouldn't it?

You think the Dawgs would like a shot at Va. Tech for a shot at the title?

How does Kansas only drop to 5?

The first real team they played revealed them as a fraud.. the score was a hell of a lot closer than the game showed. Mizzou trounced them.

Sadly.. I think the AP poll is the accurate one. It's a garbage poll.. but at least they dropped Kansas further.

    :insane:

Formulas need reworking. Strength of schedule is horribly underrated.

    EDIT:

    1. WV
    2. Mizzou
    3. tOSU (groan..)
    4. UGA
    t5 LSU/Vtech
    7 Kansas

Those are my rankings. Undeniably better than the current BCS. My advanced formula got away from multiple polls, computer averages, and media bull****. I use common sense with a dash of homer.
