I'll post this again... I think the last play of the game was a give up play and shows the mindset of the players and coaching staff. Yes, there was only :02 left in the game, but a field goal? I understand just throwing it up has little chance of success, but wouldn't a 63 yards FG into the howling wind have even LESS chance? Anyone remember the Bluegrass Miracle? At least give it a try.
I think the hail mary would have a much higher rate of success over a 63 yard field goal. At least with the hail mary you have a chance of getting a defensive penalty and getting an extra play. A 63 yarder into the wind has zero chance.
Nebraska did kick a 57 yarder. Oh, Pelini ran the trick play on the fake FG (Red Roxie) and the Colorado dude caught the "flip" from the holder to the kicker and took it to da house. :hihi:
It simply made no sense to give up like that and kick a FG. It was probably the equivolent to a 70 yarder with no wind. What would we be saying then?
We're focusing here on that last FG attempt - but David missed a 39 yarder in the first quarter that would've made the difference in the game.... :geaux:
