Well whatever... if he's a stud and hits us up for 400+ yards... then prepare to watch us get torched for 600+ on the above mentioned games in my last post. Those Qbs are lights out better then him and rest assure they'll have all of their starters to get the ball to.
He had an EXCELLENT game when his coaches made adjusments and told him to stop dropping back...to release the ball quick. The first 3 drives he LOOKED HORRIBLE...3 Muffed Snaps...3 Sacks and 1 fumble....Our Coaches inability to change when UNC changed is what made him look EXCELLENT
TJYates is a journeyman QB, much maligned at UNC, lost long periods to injury. He has sufficient skill to take advantage of flawed defences. But the root cause was our inability to keep them off the field....sound familiar?
I don't think anyone is saying he's a great QB. I think folks are pointing out that he played a really good game, threw with accuracy and discipline, followed the gameplan, and made very few mistakes outside muffed snaps. We can't say the same - JJ had same awesome moments, but he still took forever to get rid of the football, and if his primary target was covered, he had trouble checking off. So one or more of three things has to be true about our passing game, IMO. 1. Jefferson still doesn't have sufficient ability to check down, and/or; 2. Our receivers still don't run good routes; and/or; 3. UNC's backup DBs were as good as their starters and better than ours. At this point - I'm not willing to rule out #1 and #3, but I am still hopeful that #2 is no longer true...
You really think he was saying nice words of encouragement to Barrow? Hysterics do not equate to results. If you're a parent, you know (or will soon know) this in spades! I have a feeling the convesation went something like, "La-meen - I like your intensity but if you cost us 15 yards again I will bench your ass the entire game." And then he benched him for at least a couple of plays. In fact, isn't that the point where KS moved outside and Minter came in to play the middle? Personally, Barrow gets that one for free from me - it was just the same kind of rage you seem to like in your coaches, except flowing through the very young starting LBer, which is where I think it ought to be. To each his own, though.
Shouldnt you remove the pic of you and Les if you are advocating he be fired? Makes you look two faced.
They say a team makes it's biggest improvement between games 1 and 2. Here's to some major improvements!
