No, that is not what I said. I said that they are as likely to not return to the fight as they are to return to the fight. Neither of us can predict the future. I said that they are not likely to put themselves in position to be captured again. And I suggest that other people have been holding their former jobs for 13 years and are not automatically going step aside for these guys. And I said that it was Al Qaeda that attacked the USA. The Taliban is only fighting us because we are over there. Afghnaistan is tribal and they have fought each other for millennia. They band together only to fight outsiders, Britain in the 19th century, Russia in the 20th, and us in the 21st. When we leave they will go back to fighting each other. Suit yourself, but he is certainly qualified to give a soldiers opinion. Take it or leave it, but you know it is the case. And Bergdahl's dad's beard means about as much to this case as mine does. Which was obviously a part of the negotiations. Your politics are showing. Both you and Shane would be outraged at Obama if Bergdahl had been killed in captivity or left behind. Because whatever Obama does is wrong . . . standard GOP rhetoric. Many were advocating for his release until he got released by Obama.
Mentioning Fox and Hannity. What the hell do either have to do with someone's individual opinion or their politics?
That is where you are wrong Amigo. When I say I don't give a shit about the weasel it means just that. Had one of those goat humpers lopped off his worthless head or had barry just left him there it wouldn't have drawn a reaction from me at all. When he walked away from his unit he was already dead to me.
"One of the five Taliban leaders freed from Guantanamo Bay in return for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's release has pledged to return to fight Americans in Afghanistan, according to a fellow militant and a relative. "After arriving in Qatar, Noorullah Noori kept insisting he would go to Afghanistan and fight American forces there,” a Taliban commander told NBC News via telephone from Afghanistan. " Oops....there goes that theory. "Under the terms of the deal, the former commanders would remain under the control of the government of Qatar for one year and be subject to “restrictions on their movement and activities," a senior U.S. official has told NBC News –- including a one-year travel ban. A diplomatic source later told NBC News that their movements within the Arab emirate are not restricted. " Oops...there goes the theory that we can trust the terms. "The relative said a statement of support from the Taliban's leadership pleased the freed commanders. "The most important thing for them was the statement of Mullah Mohammad Omar and congratulations them upon their release. Khairkhwa told me that like him, the remaining people forgot their years of imprisonment and ordeals after they came to know about Mullah Omar's statement," his relative said. " 13 years slacking around a gun in Kabul doesn't come close to 5 years in an American prison. These guys are seen as heroes and will be lifted up to help suit the anti-American dialogue. Qualified but tainted. That's why I don't care. Nope, I sure don't. Perception is reality. You wanted to talk about Obama as CiC. Well, as CiC, he is talking out of his ass when he declares Bergdahl a POW, hugs a radical looking dad in the Rose Garden, and gives no mention or acknowledgement to the families of the fallen and true heroes who were killed looking for the deserter. He is judged on perception (it's part of the job) and right now, it's not looking great to at least some of the troops. Details. No obvious about it. You still don't have a clue when it comes to my politics. My politics are about the idea that was America. I don't support or ally myself with any party or person who clearly lies, misrepresents, or puts this country in jeopardy. The thing is, Bergdahl's status as a deserter was kept under wraps because we didn't want him used as a tool. If word got out that he had abandoned his unit, Americans probably would have detached from his story and Obama couldn't have come in as hero to the rescue. No different than the lies surrounding Jessica Lynch. No hero and lots of people, including me, changed my mind about things once the story came out. And again, with Tillman, the military and the gov't went with a cover-up that was used to gain American's support for more troops and expanding the war. I bought into it....hero, defending his men....and then we learned it was friendly fire. The government lies. No reason to think this situation is any different. Had Bergdahl been killed and I knew he had been a willing deserter, I wouldn't have wasted much time in mourning nor held the government or Obama responsible for it. End of that story. The Taliban was NEVER going to kill this guy and IMO, Obama knows that.
On a side note, I watched a documentary about the Tillman thing a while back. That really fucked those guys up. Some of them haven't spoken to each other since it happened. I feel for those guys, their lives took a very dark turn and some of them are still in really bad shape over it. Alright, back to kicking Red's ass.
Exactly what I said. Not come to America and commit terror. Go back to his own country and fight foreigners there. We are on our way out, you know. When our troops are out of Afghanistan, the Taliban is not a threat to us. It could hardly make their dialogue more anti-American. Don't buy into their propaganda. In what universe? Yes, I am quite sure of your inflexibility with regards to trusting your own country. In your opinion, you may imagine anything you wish.
