Gabe Long is a JUCO player, who will not be available until 2006. And then only has 2 years to play 2 cannot redshirt him. Ricky Jean Francois - needs a Test score. My understanding is Francois' Test retake is in February AFTER national signing day.
His name has surfaced only recently with us. He looked Miami all the way until this grade thing came about. Would be nice if a player of this caliber comes in on a greyshirt. I am curius to find out the real interest level he has for LSU.
What about Jerrell Powe? Position Ranking: 1 Previous: 1 Rivals.com The Rivals100 2005 (2) Rivals.com Defensive tackles 2005 (1) Preseason Mississippi Top 30 2005 (1) http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=24326&Sport=1 Kid is highly ranked and lists LSU among the schools that are dead even for the lead. Was a lean to Auburn but claims they haven't called him in a month so all are even now.
He was all Auburn but they backed off because of grades (long shot to qualify) and an altercation where he supposedly punched out a coach. I would imagine most schools will do the same.
Yea, just saw the two issues you brought up It's a shame some kids don't realize the opportunities they have in life and take advantage of them. But the key word there is 'kids'.
Correct about Powe. He's a tremendous athlete and AU has a strong recruiting relationship in Waynes County. But this AU staff has been sensitive to the character issue in the past three recruiting classes. The Lemarcus Rowell issue really highlighted the need to stay away from those athletes that are a catalyst for trouble (knock on wood) and it has really begun to pay off in terms of minimizing the type of distractions that can be destructive to team chemistry/unity. Powe has supposedly been told that he needs to "demonstrate" that he has cleaned up his act this winter and he'll be extended an offer. I don't know what that constitutes, but I guess it starts by taking responsibility and making ammends with the current HS staff ...... he'll need their written recommendation downstream.
