Not sure there has to be a lot of convincing. All you'd have to do is believe that you could compete for a starting spot on a team with a national media spotlight, for that team to compete for a NC year in and out, to learn a pro-style offense, work with several coaches who have NFL experience, compete against other top notch players, enjoy the SoCal climate, earn a degree at a top notch university, and get a serious opportunity to get to the NFL. PC is putting together what maybe the best Oline class in school history not to mention that Sed Ellis and Lawrence Jackson are likely AA candidates. At this point, I don't believe he's misused any of the schollies.
Duct tape in place at the moment. Since I originally made that post, Moody has transferred and Broderick Green is in serious danger of being declared inellegible for the year since the NCAA Clearinghouse has yet to make a decision on his status. Dennis has not practiced in nearly 3 weeks due to a lingering injury and tonight at scrimmage it looks as though #1 RB Chauncey Washington may have seriously injured his shoulder. The landscape has seriously changed.
All frosh running backs need to learn how to block. He'll do better once he puts on some weight. Mute point though since he's been sitting out with stretched knee ligaments.
That's the only knock on Joe, kinda soft...always a little banged up (which caused him to sit out or not play his hardest) and not physical on the field. It's more of a personality issue than physical issue. Certainly, getting bigger and stronger will help, but his attitude about that needs more of an adjustment than his body. I hope he pulls it all together, he's a special talent (90% sure he'll get switched to WR though..or at least get the vast majority of his touches from receiving).
While I don't think he'll get moved to WR, he will get a ton of passes. He'll be the guy in motion and will get action in the flat a la Reggie Bush. Regarding his personality, I might not agree. I recently heard from a USC Offensive lineman who had said in all his years of football, he'd never seen anyone work harder, train harder, or be more intense on the field than Reggie Bush.............until he saw Joe McKnight. Also mentioned that he is incredibly humble and VERY focused. Joe's banged up for good reason. It's the nature of football that the veterans give an extra special welcome to the frosh. Joe was consistently put up against our first team D and that includes blocking. We're talking seriously grown men banging against a kid that just got out of high school. I'm anxious to hear more about Murphy. :geauxtige
We'll see, he was not a full time player in high school...will be surprised if he can carry a load at the college level. Everyone hears "amazing things" about their incoming players before the season starts...they rarely turn out to be true.
I really think hes all colorado....but we might end up getting his last visit so at least we get a shot at him.
