For what it's worth, I hope Scott is right.........for ONCE. He still thinks CJ Spiller is coming to USC. He is notoriously WRONG on so many counts I can't even tell you. His style is what we call "lean in" journalism. He never actually asks the questions, never uses a recorder, never takes notes.....just leans in and writes what he remembers. :dis: I think he may originally come from San Francisco. :yelwink2:

Our new WR coach, McCartney is from UCLA & could be paying big dividends in the recruitment of Scott.

Our depth chart when Scott gets on campus would be:
    Keiland & Scott: Jr's
    Murphy: So.

IMO, this is the primary factor & the main reason I don't feel good about landing him.

I keep hearing conflicting reports on this, but I believe that we only want 1 RB - we'd take 2 in the right circumstances.

I say one, who ever commits first out of Staley & Jerico Nelson. That's tough though because both project very well to defense... If we take Staley/Jerico & another RB, it will be because we see them changing to defense.

It doesn't look like he'll qualify, and it also doesn't appear that our coaches are as high on him as Rivals is.

Ford will likely be top 5, but I don't think he'll be #1.

Just curious but in rivals TOP 50 breakdown how did they list USC grade for RB as B.

I'm still sort of confused as to how McCartney's one year at UCLA could help in the recruiting. Scott goes to St. Bonnie's out in the Valley which has been more of a pipeline for USC (although I still contend USC has little to no chance here) and not so much for the bruins. If anything, McCartney's ties to Florida where Scott is from would be more of a connection for them.

Not qualifying should be the only reason that teams aren't interested in him. Stars are largely objective but I've never seen a RB that was more unquestionably properly rated.

So far in this class we only have one RB commit and that's Curtis McNeal and he's a 3 star. Discussion about him has been heated due to his size......or lack thereof. I saw him on a visit to Spring ball and he's not the tallest guy but he's thick and VERY fast. With so much depth at RB (really will only be 5, maybe 6) by the end of the season, recruiting at that spot isn't the priority.

The rivals top 50 was referring to the current roster.

In that case, I'm not sure what makes an "A" grade but it's not entirely confounding. We have depth no doubt, but our experienced players (Washington, Dennis, Moody) have all had past injuries and mixed results. CDub is a workhorse but he's a power back and was so banged up last year he'll need some help. Dennis is a 6th year guy and mostly due to injury. He had a great Spring but I don't know if he'll start. Moody has speed and great work ethic, he needs patience-he tends to try too hard to make things happen instead of allowing the blockers to create holes. Johnson has struggled to get carries but looks to see action, and Bradford may be moved to fullback. Michael Coleman's hip never completely recovered and he's transfering. Marc Tyler is coming off a very serious leg fracture and may well redshirt, Broderick Green will be amazing but is still going to need experience and the same with JM. Next year anything other than A+ would be hard to fathom.
