Well, I just got back from the game. I had a great time, and it was great to be on campus again. But down to business... There's enough blame to go around for the shoddy performance today. I know people want to jump on Miles for the last few seconds of the game, and I don't blame them. He's not above making mistakes, as we can see. I don't think that makes him a horrible coach that should be demoted to towel boy; it makes him human. However, that mistake may never had happened if.... -We hadn't committed so many penalties in the first half -JJ didn't decide he liked throwing to the guys wearing the pretty orange colors instead of white -JJ didn't throw the ball to the ground in hopes that it wouldn't get picked off but, oh wait, it did -JLee didn't get called for intentional grounding -JLee didn't throw an interception in the endzone But there's a silver lining in all of this. We ran the ball well. Our defense, while it gave up fourteen points, held as long as they could. If the offense doesn't do it's job and move the ball, the defense will eventually get tired. And despite three interceptions, we actually had our best passing game, yardage and completion wise, so far this season. Tenn had nothing to lose and everything to prove going into this game. They did prove one thing; any SEC team can give you hell on Saturday. It was an ugly win, and it doesn't give me much confidence going into the swamp, but it was a win. I hope that, despite his one interception, Miles will see Jlee's performance compared to JJ's (minus his record run) and see who needs to start the game.:geaux:
That was Tenn. We had 434 yard of total offense. Link: Tennessee Volunteers vs. LSU Tigers - Recap - October 02, 2010 - ESPN
I agree with you an ugly win but lsu moved the ball and held tenn to 14 pts with all the rediculous plays and penalties that lsu committed
Strangest part for me was that this game was our best in terms of passing yardage. Sad really, considering three interceptions but hey, it's bound to happen with a dual QB system. Which is why JL needs to start against Florida. I don't think he is a god of the position, but he looked better at making decisions from time to time than JJ.
