My main issue out of these two games are teh 4th and goal calls.

Either lack of faith in O, or lack of faith in D.

Either way, I think it sends a negative signal to the players..

I understand the need for points, however, we've had what, 5 times now in 2 games? mabye 6? Not 100% sure, but it's been enough to make me talk about it..

Way I see it, 4th and goal means MAN Up and If O cant do it, the D is sitting real nice to make a big stop and then if D lets em score.......WE shouldn't have won in the first place...

What do yall think of the 4th and goal calls?

i think les miles has spoiled you for 4th down calls.

let's save them for when the game is in doubt and not in games where we only need 1st-3rd downs to win.

No, but really, the vandy game was never in doubt. They had ONE good drive that could have been shut down a few times. I think at some point, he would have tried ONCE..

Offense is not ready yet. They have not found their confidence completely so there's no point in going for a 4th down conversion if you aren't sure you're going to get it. Take the Florida game for instance, the first thing CLM and the team both said is they never doubted for 1 second that they would convert those five 4th down conversions..

Trust me (or don't), the players are fine with this school of thought.

That Florida game really has spoiled people.

Had to look at that twice.. I see what you were saying there... But, I think Miles has a good feel for what he's doing.

And while we're at it, let's get our new kicker as many field goal attempts during relatively low-stress game situations as possible.

I have to go with CLM on this. Our inside running game hasn't looked that good yet (OL doesn't seem to have Jelled). FGs were good each time. If they stop the 4th and goal play it really gets the D fired up, something that we don't need right now based on our offense not being dominate in either of the two games we've played so far.:geauxtige

While I would have liked to see the O gain that confidence I agree with the call(s).

Well there was 1 pass play in the direction of the North End Zone against Vandy that had their QB not thrown a bad pass that reciever would've taken it for the score... Vandy had a few bad breaks and we capitolized when we had too... but the weather did suck and I am sure had a lot to do with the play calling... I'm more worried about these young tigers taking bad hits trying to make something happen, then I am about what we're doing on 4th and goal. I think JJ has a lot to offer but if he doesn't learn to slide every now and then we're gonna be seeing a lot more of Lee and co.

The calls made in the Vandy game, while not popular with fans, were the right calls to make. In a rain game, always go with points, no matter what.

Now had Vandy been scoring left and right, and dominating our defense, then yes you go for the Touchdowns, but as it was said before, our defense was playing better, and only allowed a few drives, of which only one scored. If Vandy had better Wide Recievers, it would have been closer game. Of course the rain could have affected their play, but they made some pretty bad drops and the one Interception.

Be thankful we dont have Jim Tressel coaching the Tigers. You wouldnt be debating this point because he kicks the field goal almost 100% of the time. Miles has shown he isnt afraid if the circumstances are right.
