Some of you guys here & others around the innerwebs are pretty dense. The kid has 49 pairs of shoes? I'm shocked he doesn't have MORE! First, look at what others have already said. Players go to the equipment manager & pick up 4 pair a year for free. I guarantee that when you go to a bowl game, they probably toss in a couple more pair. Second, Jefferson's tuition is ZERO. From what I have read, his parents are far from destitute. If my kid had a free ride to college, I would have no problem buying them a $25,000 car with the tuition money I had saved for them. 49 pairs of shoes comes to less than $5,000, and that's if every pair was high end, bought, and paid for. Lastly, what do you collect? LSU memorabilia? Golf gear? Faberge eggs? Rugrats? Everyone has something that they are willing to sacrifice in order to feed their habit for something else. Perhaps JJ decided to skip a few meals or make his laundry money stretch a bit farther so he could get a new pair of kicks each month. And black kids aren't the only shoe whores in the world. I am 36, white, and very conservative with my money, but I know that in my closet, I own more than 30 pairs of shoes ranging from $350 dress shoes to $15 flip flops.
I'm late to all this crap. WTF??? What happened to quiet offseasons? Who the hell leaked that JJ has 49 pairs of shoes? Are they testing them for DNA to see if he kicked someone?
Exactly. Whoever leaked this needs to be in deep sh*t. This incident needed more "no comments" while being investigated.
Speaking of shoes... PlannedSickDays: Hawkeye Football | Athlete Ruben Lile Commits to Iowa Iowa just got a commit last night out of Detroit. Instead of doing the "putting the cap on" to announce his selection, this kid wore custom-made Nike shoes that said "Future" on the heel of the left shoe and "Hawkeye" on the heel of the right shoe. Now I ask you... where does a 17 year old Detroit kid go to get custom-made Nike football shoes that says "future Hawkeye" on them?? Perhaps, It's just pair one of his "49". Imagine getting a new pair of shoes that already "smell".
