Washington was 11/19 on 3rd down conversions. 7/9 in the first half.

We gave up 478 total yards. 158 of those were on third down.

The Avg down and distance was 3rd and 4.75.

UW avg. 8.77 yrds per play on third down.

This is the scariest thing I think to come out of this game.

I'd like to think the poor tackling can be corrected, but the scheme is the reason for this ridiculous stat.

    Very scary indeed.

I'm trying to keep some misguided optimism right now and refer back to Bo Pelini's first game. After giving up 560 yards of total offense to ASU I was hoping he'd drop dead/get fired/you name it, but a week later all was well and continued to get much better.

It can't get worse than last year, right?

While I enjoyed the game, and we won, it must be said that the defense is now a concern. We gave up a LOT of yards. Wash. was better than we thought, I think they'll give some other folks fits. Hopefully its the first game in a new scheme, and like Pelini's first game, we'll coach em up and do better on the second game.
