I didn't even realize the State Palace was open. Would be a nice place to watch the game, and it's on Canal St.; not too far from the French Quarter.

Who said this because that is false?

I have been to Ampersand at full capacity many times and the place is not very big especially for wide viewing of a big screen. The bar area is narrow and then they dance floor in front of the stage can probably fit about 300 max standing only. They have a 1 or 2 VIP rooms that are also very small and blocked off so you wont be able to see the TV from their unless you are in the very very small upstairs VIP room. With the walls blocked the view of the dance floor, you could only view the game from the middle of the bar unless they did some extreme renovations in the past year.

I would say the max capacity is close to 600 and that is generous. Get there early because they say the Space is Limited and you will be packed like sardines. Dont forget about the E because it is usually in abundance there.:hihi:

here are some pictures that might help give you an idea.

I would see if the Metropolitian has the game on a big screen. They have 3 different large rooms that are wide open with balconys overlooking the dance floors.

This is true but they have a court yard and an extra lobby that can expand the club to hold that many people.

The court yard is small and away no where near where the big screen will be setup along with the lobby. That is why I am surprised they are showing the game there and saying it can hold anywhere close to 1500 people. I suspect that a they will promote the hell out of it and then people will realize that only half of them can watch on the big screen after already paying up the dough.

I have been here many times and know 2 of the owners through friends of mine so I have a good idea how it will be.

Dont want to shoot everyone's hopes of watching the game there but I wouldnt feel right not giving a friendly heads up about possible problems with the venue.

I really, really believe that this is going to be at the Palace and not Ampersand. They did this same thing for LSU/OU. Ampersand simply doesn't have the height to house a screen of that size.

That has to be it. I was waiting for someone to pop up who attended the last one.

I went to the Palace in 2003 and it was pretty awesome. We paid 50 bucks to sit down in the VIP and get free drinks for the whole game. I made my money back easily in Jack and Cokes...
