Galarraga loses perfect game with 2 outs in 9th - MLB - Yahoo! Sports DETROIT (AP)—Armando Galarraga(notes) of the Detroit Tigers lost his bid for a perfect game Wednesday night with two outs in the ninth inning on a disputed call at first base. Replays appeared to show Cleveland hitter Jason Donald(notes) was out.
Dude got completely robbed. Just got home from an evening out, but saw the replay. That ump is going to get blasted by Tiger fans for a LONG time.
Yep, and another reason instant replay should be used in cases like this. No way that ump should get away with making that call.

Unfortunately for Galarraga, this will get lost in history. No record books will ever show it, and in a year I doubt anyone outside of Detroit will remember it.
Well, the ump is grieving over his call. He saw his blown call on the instant replay and has been apologetic ever since. Here's an article about their exchange the next night. Umpire Jim Joyce, Tigers' Armando Galarraga make up after blown call - MLB News - FOX Sports on MSN
sucks, everyone handled the situation with class though, especially the pitcher. If he isn't pissed, no one else should be. BTW i am relieved dumb ass bud selig didn't overturn the ruling, and award the pitcher the perfect game, that would have opened up a huge can of worms, and set a really bad precedent. The answer is simple, get instant replay.
