Why the heck would our offense have needed releif?...they were only in the game for 3 plays at a time, then they sat on the bench and watched the game. The Defense were the ones in need of releif.
I did not attend the game, but I observed this at halftime as well, and prior to the kickoff-and I said this in several post yesterday. You hit the nail on the head with your observation--But how did this happen? How could the coaches not see this? How could the coaches not try to correct this? Extremely high stakes were involved in this game-and I just cannot reconcile this!!! The best college football team of ALL TIME doesn't show up for the game!! Unbelievable.
I can't add anything more to this discussion other than: It's baffling how LSU could show up for the NCG not ready to play. Totally mind blowing.
The sad thing is we'll never get anything straight from the coaches. Just meandering Miles-speak. It wouldn't change the results, but it would make for nice closure to hear an honest account of what went wrong.
I was at the game, and the comments about how the team came out at the start of the second half are spot on. And I also thought the same thing about the opening kick-off... couldn't believe they could take the opening kick-off deep from their own end-zone past the 30. I was expecting to hit him at the 10. But our players just weren't down the field like they usually are. I also noticed the AL fan base was much more enthusiastic than LSU's. Even during warm up, this was evident. The moment their players hit the field, they were screaming. Their players were jumping up and down. They were there with a PURPOSE ... players, coaches, fans ... and it showed. LSU fan base was lack-luster. I bet crowd was 65% - 35% LSU, but felt the other way. LSU was this way in Dallas this year before the Oregon game. Our crowd was in their seats and waiting, 45 minutes before kick off. And the place was rocking well before kick off. That was the energy we needed for this game, but it simply wasn't there. More like a sense of impending doom. Still scratching my head at this one. I haven't had a normal voice coming home from an LSU game in a long time, but there wasn't much to cheer for this game.
How was the O line tired? They weren't on the field long enough to get tired, unless it was walking back after tackles for loss. But really we did need something out there. I wouldn't have expected anything from JL but he should have been tried. Even he throws a pick 6 at least we would have had a quick ending rather than holding hope till 6 minutes left in the game. BTW that is also frustrating. The D played so well and kept Bama from scoring that we had a shot (in theory) that we could win till the 4th & 18 debacle. We only needed one big play and who knows?
2nd half emotion? May as well name this thread "unicorns and leprechauns". Based in the same type of reality. Not knocking the thread. Just can't believe there were two offensive plays that I remember gaining significant yardage. Two. That's it
