Yes. And burn a bridge with the community. However, we have seen Louisiana kids who commit to LSU, then later switch to that red team two states over. So I guess it works both ways.
Overall, the whole process is sleazy. LSU (like all other schools) probably offers 40+ kids knowing they can sign a maximum of 25. The recruits “commit” but most do not even understand what it really means. And then there is the subjective issue of the rankings of the recruits. It is one thing comparing someone ranked 150 in their position vs someone ranked in the upper twenties, but comparing someone ranked in the twenties vs someone ranked in the forties? Until you see them practice side by side for a year or so, you will never reaaly know which one is better.
Yet there are a very few that rank in the upper echelons of elite of the elite. If ylu can get a kid like Fournette, Peterson or Derek Stingley Jr you take him no matter who you have to bump.
